Head of Legal Iberia ( Maternity Cover – 6 months)

Location: Madrid - Hybrid with 2 days per week at our office

Annual Salary: 60,000€ - 72,000€

Domestic & General, Europe’s leading provider of appliance protection and insurance services, is seeking a Head of Legal to temporarily lead the Legal and Data Protection function across Iberia (Spain and Portugal).

This is a strategic opportunity for senior legal professionals with strong business acumen, decision‑making capability and experience in regulated environments.

Your impact in the role

As Head of Legal Iberia, you will be responsible for all legal and data protection matters affecting the business in Spain and Portugal. You will have autonomy to make key decisions, influence strategy and ensure operations remain compliant, mitigating risks while unlocking commercial opportunities.

💼 Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal, contractual and regulatory advice to the business in Spain and Portugal.

• Draft, review and negotiate high‑value commercial contracts (OEMs, retailers, partners).

• Manage multiple legal matters simultaneously, prioritising effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

• Represent the company before regulators in both countries.

• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance and Data Protection teams at local and Group level.

• Lead and develop the Iberia Legal team (Legal Counsel, Junior Lawyer, Admin Support).

• Participate in governance committees and contribute legal insight to strategic decisions.

• Ensure accurate contractual, corporate and documentation management for the Spanish branch.

🧩 What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as Head of Legal, Senior Legal Counsel or equivalent senior role in regulated environments.

• Strong background in commercial contracting, negotiation and senior stakeholder management.

• Deep knowledge of the Spanish and Portuguese regulatory landscape.

• Ability to manage relationships with regulators and external advisers.

• Positive leadership style, strong influencing skills and results‑driven mindset.

• Proactive approach, solid legal judgement and ability to work autonomously.

• Experience managing legal teams.

• Professional Spanish and English; Portuguese is a plus.

• Hybrid working model: 40% office / 60% remote (2 days per week in the office).

• Fixed schedule: Monday to Thursday, from 09:00 to 18:00 (with one hour of flexibility for the starting time), and on Fridays from 08:00 to 15:00 (also with one hour of flexibility for the starting time).
