What’s the Job?
As Head of Careers and Graduate Success, you’ll lead the next evolution of how Torrens University Australia supports students as they move from study into meaningful careers.

This is a hands-on leadership role with an opportunity to build a more connected approach to career development — addressing an important gap between Work Integrated Learning, final-year study and what happens after students complete their course. You’ll help create a clear pathway of support that continues into graduates’ first 12 months after completion.

Reporting to the Director of Employability & Graduate Outcomes, you’ll translate our employability strategy into scalable, accessible services that combine digital resources, career guidance, recruitment preparation and targeted graduate support.

Success is ultimately about outcomes: helping students and graduates understand their career options, present their skills confidently, navigate contemporary recruitment practices and progress into meaningful employment — whether that means securing their first role, moving into a better role or finding work more closely aligned to their field of study.

Key Points About This Role

• Build the career-to-graduate journey – Create connected support from final year through the first 12 months after study, helping students move from learning and WIL into meaningful work.
• Scale accessible career support – Design digital, group and personalised services so diverse students and graduates can access the right support at the right time.
• Turn recruitment insight into success – Translate contemporary hiring practice, labour-market insight and employer expectations into practical career and recruitment support.
• Use data to improve outcomes – Track engagement, service quality and graduate outcomes, including QILT measures, and use evidence to continuously improve services.
• Lead, connect and innovate – Lead the function and partner across Academic, Alumni, Student Experience, WIL and employer-facing teams to create an integrated service.

This is a permanent, full-time position, open to applicants based at any Torrens University Australia campus location.

Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who understands that employability is more than giving students a good CV. You understand how recruitment works, what employers look for and how career support can translate into tangible outcomes for students and graduates.

• Career & recruitment expertise – You bring substantial experience across careers, employability, graduate success, student development or a comparable environment, with strong knowledge of contemporary recruitment practices.
• Builder and hands-on leader – You can see the bigger picture, design a service model and also get involved in building and delivering early programs. You’re comfortable creating, testing and scaling something new.
• Data and digital mindset – You use graduate outcomes, engagement data and labour-market insights to guide decisions. Experience with career platforms, CRM/case-management systems and responsible AI-enabled tools will be valuable.
• Collaborative influencer – You can work effectively across Academic, professional and external stakeholder groups, bringing people together around a shared goal and building strong employer and industry relationships.
• Qualifications and professional practice – You’ll bring a relevant degree or substantial equivalent professional experience. A recognised career development qualification is highly desirable. A current Working with Children Check and police check may be required.

Above all, you’ll be motivated by student and graduate outcomes. We’re looking for someone who can turn strategy into practical support and help students move from “I’m finishing my degree — what now?” to having the confidence, tools and direction to take their next career step.
