The Hardware Engineering Co-op for Sciex work with cross-functional teams on all aspects of complex projects related to Mass Spectrometer product design, development, and testing with a focus on applying engineering fundamentals in a professional environment.

This position is part of the Hardware Development team located in Vaughan, ON and will be onsite at Sciex’ R&D Centre.

You will be a part of the Hardware Development team and report to a Senior Engineer that is responsible for New Product Development, Sustaining, and/or VAVE. If you thrive in a fast-paced Scientific Instrumentation design environment read on!

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

·         With guidance from other team members, work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and Sciex’ suppliers to understand the considerations associated with product development of Mass Spectrometer systems.

·         Work closely with Product Management and other business stakeholders to understand and document Customer needs, define and trace system requirements, define associated verification plans and protocols, and perform basic risk and FMEA analysis.

·         Work closely with other members of the Design team and suppliers (e.g., component, assembly equipment) to develop products with a focus on customer needs, the requirements generated, as well as on integration, manufacturability and serviceability of different system elements.

·         Work within a cross functional design team to perform basic system design and analysis (thermal, audible noise, reliability and cost analysis, DOE's, simulated use testing, etc.) and support iterative development of product and associated process qualification plans and testing.

·         Work with other team members on identifying, developing and implementing AI automation to specific engineering areas and workflows.

·         Present 1:1 and in group settings Engineering results and status updates on for task related work.

The essential requirements of the job include:

·         Student working toward a bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems engineering (or related field equivalent)

·         Minimum GPA 3.0 within curriculum is required.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

·         Previous Co-op experience in an engineering function.

·         Experience in medical device and/or product development.

·         Skilled in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks)

This job is not eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
