Job Duties

The Finance Director will lead the Global Markets & Policy (GM&P) Commercial Finance team within Amgen India, establishing and scaling a critical finance capability supporting Amgen’s global commercial organization.

The Director will initially lead a team of approximately seven Finance professionals and will be responsible for building and developing a larger organization over time. The team will provide financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and decision support across revenue and commercial operating expenses, partnering closely with Global, Regional, and Local Finance teams.

A key priority for this role will be building a high-performing, scalable Finance organization that strengthens planning capabilities, standardizes processes, improves analytical insights, and enables greater efficiency across GM&P Finance. The Director will help define which activities can be effectively consolidated and scaled through Amgen India while maintaining strong connectivity and accountability with commercial Finance teams around the world.

The Finance Director will be a key member of the GM&P Finance leadership team. The role will partner extensively with senior Finance and Commercial leaders across markets, regions, and global functions.

The Director will be responsible for developing talent, establishing effective operating models and controls, and progressively expanding the scope and capabilities of the Amgen India Commercial Finance organization.

As a Finance Director, you will:

• Lead revenue and OpEx planning and forecasting activities in partnership with Global, Regional, and Local Finance teams, supporting short-term forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range planning.
• Establish standardized, scalable planning and analytical processes across commercial organizations while ensuring appropriate flexibility for differences across products, markets, and regions.
• Deliver high-quality financial analysis and business insights related to revenue performance, commercial investments, operating expenses, productivity, and resource allocation.
• Partner with Finance and Commercial leadership to identify opportunities to improve financial performance, optimize investments, and increase productivity.
• Build capabilities that leverage automation, advanced analytics, AI, and standardized data to improve forecast quality, reduce manual work, and accelerate financial insights and decision-making.
• Establish clear governance, controls, service expectations, and accountability across activities performed by the Amgen India team and its Finance partners globally.
• Support financial close, management reporting, variance analysis, forecasting, and other recurring Finance processes with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and compliance.
• Lead cross-functional and cross-Finance initiatives to simplify and improve Finance processes, reduce duplication, and create greater consistency across GM&P.
• Recruit, retain, develop, and coach a strong pipeline of Finance talent, creating opportunities for team members to build deep commercial and financial expertise and take on increasingly complex responsibilities.
• Provide a succinct business and financial perspective to senior leadership, translating complex financial information into clear insights and recommendations.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to achieve results through direct leadership of the Amgen India organization and influence across a matrixed global organization.

Basic Qualifications:

• Chartered accountant, Cost Accountant, CPA or a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or Business & Administration.
• 18+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, or related finance discipline.

Required Skills

• Commercial Finance and/or Financial Planning & Analysis experience, including revenue and operating expense planning.
• Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or transforming Finance teams and capabilities, ideally within a global organization.
• Experience working across multiple markets, regions, business units, or global functions in a matrixed environment.
• Strong understanding of forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, financial reporting, and performance management.
• Demonstrated ability to standardize and simplify Finance processes while maintaining strong business partnership.
• Strong leadership and talent-development capabilities, including experience leading and developing high-performing Finance teams.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to effectively partner with senior Finance and business leaders globally.
• Strategic and proactive thinker who brings a succinct point of view and business perspective and can translate financial analysis into actionable recommendations.
• Experience leveraging technology, automation, analytics, and AI to improve Finance processes and decision support.
• Agile and able to prioritize effectively and adapt quickly to changing business requirements.
