Vertin is looking for a General Manager who's just as comfortable leading a team and a P&L as they are standing beside a family on one of the hardest days of their lives. This position will work onsite at our Gillette, WY firm. Relocation is offered.
Leadership & Operations (60%)
Team leadership & performance
- Build fair, well-covered schedules for calls, services, events, and meetings across your operating group
- Set clear expectations and track performance against established metrics, delivering timely feedback and addressing issues early
- Hold your team accountable to shared goals and results
- Partner with Location Managers to lead regular staff meetings, per the Vertin Business Model
Community & brand presence
- Champion active associate involvement in the communities you serve
- Review and elevate current marketing and community engagement efforts
- Lead the way on social media as a tool for connection and visibility
Serving Families as Funeral Director (40%)
Serving families
- Arrange and conduct funeral and memorial services with professionalism, organization, and genuine care, in keeping with Vertin policy
- Grow your business's presence through active involvement in community, religious, and civic organizations
- Keep your location's local and online marketing current and accurate
Service excellence
- Promote a safe, healthy work environment
- Stay current on all professional, state, and federal funeral service licensing requirements
- Provide compassionate aftercare — delivering documents, cards, and information on insurance and pre-arrangements to next of kin
- Share pre-need referrals with your Preneed Specialist
- Support service logistics: parking, ushering, driving funeral vehicles, floral delivery, supply runs, and special events
- Prepare accurate service and cremation documentation and handle related office duties
- Help maintain funeral home vehicles, facilities, property, and supply inventory
Requirements
- Associates degree in mortuary science (must be dual licensed in Funeral Director and Embalmer)
- Must be able to get licensed in the state of Wyoming
- A strong communicator and consensus builder who can turn financial reports into action for others
- Experience providing management support across multiple sites and a broad geographic area
- An understanding of sound business practices and how they support your team's mission
- Strong prioritization, multitasking, and delegation skills
- A knack for building relationships across a local or multi-community footprint
- Current Funeral Director license (or eligibility for licensure) as required in your state
