Who We Are & What You’ll Do

Denver Arts & Venues (DAV) operates some of the region’s most iconic cultural facilities—including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, and the Colorado Convention Center—and manages Denver’s Public Art and community grant programs.

DAV is seeking a finance and accounting professional to serve as our Financial and Accounting Manager. This role is focused on financial leadership, compliance, analysis, and stewardship of public resources. While the agency operates within an arts and venue environment, this position requires deep expertise in governmental accounting and financial management.

Reporting to the Financial Director, this position oversees financial integrity across the organization, manages a team of professional accounting staff, and guides agency-wide budgeting, reporting, grant accounting, and operational financial processes. Within your first 90 days, you will build a strong understanding of DAV’s operational landscape, including internal financial workflows, required timelines, and key partners across the organization. You will also spend time getting to know the strengths, working styles, and responsibilities of each team member you will manage, enabling you to support their development and effectively guide agency‑wide financial functions.

Financial Systems & Compliance

  • Apply advanced knowledge of governmental and public‑sector accounting principles to maintain accurate, compliant financial records.
  • Ensure financial transactions meet City policies, accounting standards, audit requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Oversee general ledger operations with a focus on reconciliation, internal controls, and reporting accuracy.
  • Evaluate financial data to identify trends, interpret risk, and present insights that inform leadership decisions.

Analytical & Decision‑Support Skills

  • Build financial models and conduct scenario analyses to support operational planning and resource allocation.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Create forecasting tools, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms that improve transparency and accountability.

Budget Strategy & Financial Planning

  • Lead the development of annual operating and capital budgets, aligning financial planning with agency goals.
  • Monitor expenditure patterns, analyze variances, and adjust projections to maintain fiscal stability.
  • Represent DAV in discussions with the City Budget Office, communicating financial assumptions and funding needs.

Grant Management & Regulatory Competence

  • Navigate federal, state, and City grant requirements to ensure accurate accounting, documentation, and reporting.
  • Conduct reconciliations, oversight of drawdowns, and preparation of financial statements for audits.
  •  Support program staff in understanding and applying compliant spending practices.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals by providing coaching, direction, performance evaluation, and skills development.
  • Build a team culture grounded in accuracy, accountability, collaboration, and public service.
  • Prioritize and delegate work to meet operational and regulatory deadlines.

  • Oversee daily accounting activities, ensuring compliance with policies, internal controls, and best practices.
  • Identify operational issues, develop solutions, and implement process and system improvements.
  • Participate in cross‑departmental projects, providing financial expertise to support organizational planning and decision‑making.
  • Support workflow and system upgrades through testing, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
