Job Description:
BW Papersystems is seeking hands-on, customer-focused Field Service Technicians and Engineers to install, troubleshoot, commission, and support industrial equipment across North America. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy travel, machinery, automation, and solving technical challenges in the field.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, start up, and commission equipment at customer facilities.
• Troubleshoot and program PLCs and automation controls.
• Diagnose electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and controls issues.
• Perform equipment upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Train customer operators and maintenance personnel.
• Document service activities, programming changes, and installation reports.
• Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical drawings.
• Maintain a safe, professional work environment.
Qualifications
Field Service Engineer
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Controls Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting experience preferred.
Field Service Technician
• Associate degree or technical certificate in a related field; OR
• High school diploma/GED with 7+ years of relevant industrial experience.
Preferred Skills
• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Microsoft Office proficiency; CAD/SolidWorks experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Work Environment
• Primarily customer manufacturing facilities.
• Exposure to industrial environments, machinery, noise, grease, and dust.
• Frequent travel with overnight stays and extended time away from home.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and work around machinery.
• Lift up to 50 lbs independently and more with assistance.
• Maintain visual and mental focus for troubleshooting and service work.
Travel
• Approximately 75-80% travel throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
• International travel opportunities may be available.
• Weekend, holiday, and extended-hour work may be required.

Compensation
$80,000 - $110,000 annually
Compensation is based on experience, skills, education, and geographic location.
