As a Field Engineer I, you are the team’s eyes and technical presence in the field, learning the business of building from the ground up.
Who You Are
As a Field Engineer I, you provide on-site technical oversight and engineering support that keeps LC’s land development and construction projects moving On Time, On Budget, On Brand, and On NOI. This is an entry-level, development-track role built for a recent graduate who wants to learn development and construction from the field up and grow toward field leadership. You are detail-oriented, coachable, and comfortable spending your day on an active job site.

- Verify that field work is executed in accordance with approved plans, designs, blueprints, and specifications.
- Follow established quality control procedures and inspection protocols; identify and document deviations and support corrective action.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise on-site and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to the project schedule.
- Review specifications and plan documents; support the RFI (Request for Information) process and submittal tracking.
- Read and interpret design and construction drawings and diagrams to support field verification and quantity tracking.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and inspection records, along with a comprehensive photo and data log of field activity.
- Prepare project assessment reports and regularly update project status to site managers and the Director of Construction.
- Attend project and site meetings to provide technical input and present recommendations to improve land development processes.
- Monitor site safety practices and support compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
- Utilize construction management software to record, track, and report field data.
- Support the achievement of LC’s Zero Defects standard: On Time, On Budget, On Brand, and On NOI.
- Invest deeply in the growth and success of self and others through LC’s five leadership behaviors: Humility, Caring, Curiosity, Courage, and Grit.
- Additional duties as assigned and directed.
What You’ll Bring

- The ability to read and interpret design and construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction site inspection, quality inspection, and construction site safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with sound technical troubleshooting judgment in a field environment.
