Job Description

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is the corporate foundation of Thomson Reuters, the global AI and technology company. As an independent charity, registered in the UK, Ireland and the USA, we leverage our media, legal and data-driven expertise to foster free, fair and informed societies by strengthening information integrity, protecting civil society, and advancing fair work and responsible AI.

Are you an entrepreneurial leader with commercial accumen who can identify where mission-led expertise can become viable products, services and ventures? We are seeking an Enterprise Lead to build and lead the Foundation’s enterprise capability, turning organisational assets and market insight into compelling, scalable and financially sustainable offers.

Based in the UK and reporting to the senior leadership of the Innovation Unit, you will lead the Enterprise Hub and directly manage the Global Sales Executive and Senior Marketing Specialist. Working across the Foundation and with Thomson Reuters colleagues, you will own the end-to-end product and enterprise strategy, from customer discovery and market validation through pricing, packaging, pilots, performance analysis and roadmap management. You will also identify enterprise opportunities across the organisation and lead initiatives to strengthen impact investment readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise and product strategy: Set and deliver a coherent enterprise strategy that translates the Foundation’s mission, expertise, networks, data and intellectual assets into market-relevant products, services and partnership opportunities.
  • Opportunity identification: Systematically assess activities across the organisation to identify enterprise potential, prioritising opportunities according to mission alignment, customer need, impact, feasibility, scalability and financial return.
  • Market validation and customer discovery: Lead research, testing and engagement with prospective customers, partners and beneficiaries to validate problems, demand, routes to market and willingness to pay.
  • Product packaging and service design: Shape clear value propositions and design products and services that combine customer value, measurable social impact, operational feasibility and a high-quality user experience.
  • Pricing and business models: Develop and test pricing, revenue and partnership models, supported by robust cost assumptions, margin analysis and business cases.
  • Product roadmap management: Own and maintain a prioritised portfolio and product roadmap, setting clear decision points and coordinating development, investment, launch and iteration across functions.
  • Pilot design and performance analysis: Design pilots with clear hypotheses, success measures and learning goals; analyse product, customer, impact and financial performance; and recommend whether to adapt, scale, pause or stop.
  • Commercial leadership and P&L management: Meet income and contribution targets, manage budgets and P&L performance, monitor risk and performance, and provide clear forecasts and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Sales and marketing leadership: Manage the Global Sales Executive and Senior Marketing Specialist, aligning product strategy, demand generation, thought leadership, customer communications, pipeline development and account growth.
  • Training portfolio growth: Lead and grow TRF’s established training portfolio, strengthening existing offers and taking new training products to market across new regions.
  • Impact investment readiness: Lead initiatives to assess and strengthen the readiness of relevant products, services or ventures for impact investment, including proposition development, business planning, evidence of demand, impact measurement, governance and investor engagement.
  • Cross-organisational delivery: Build effective relationships across complex and matrixed structures, convening programme, product, finance, legal, communications, technology and subject-matter colleagues to move opportunities from concept to delivery.
  • Governance and responsible enterprise: Ensure enterprise activity is ethical, mission-aligned and compliant with relevant policies, charitable requirements and the Reuters Trust Principles.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant leadership experience: Substantial experience in a social enterprise, non-governmental organisation, impact-led business, social investment organisation or similarly mission-driven environment.
  • Product and venture development: Demonstrated experience taking products, services or ventures from insight and customer discovery through validation, piloting, launch and iteration.
  • Commercial and financial management: Experience managing a P&L, budgets, pricing, business cases and performance, with the commercial judgement to balance income, margin, impact and risk.
  • Enterprise mindset: A highly entrepreneurial, opportunity-focused approach, with the ability to work through ambiguity, test assumptions, make evidence-based decisions and build momentum with limited resources.
  • Market and customer insight: Strong capability in customer discovery, market validation, segmentation, proposition development and the interpretation of customer and performance data.
  • Leadership and people management: Experience setting direction, managing specialists and creating alignment across sales, marketing, product and delivery activity.
  • Complex stakeholder management: A proven ability to influence and deliver across complex, matrixed and international structures without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Communication and influence: The ability to explain complex ideas clearly, secure senior-level support and build trusted relationships with customers, partners, investors and internal stakeholders.
  • Mission alignment: Sound judgement and a clear commitment to responsible enterprise, social impact and the Foundation’s mission and Reuters Trust Principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Impact investment: Experience preparing ventures or organisations for impact investment, working with impact investors or developing blended finance and investment propositions.
  • Portfolio management: Experience managing a portfolio of products or ventures and making disciplined investment, prioritisation and stop-or-scale decisions.
  • Relevant sectors: Exposure to professional services, training, research, data products, media, legal services, responsible business, responsible technology or philanthropy.
  • Innovation methods: Familiarity with lean experimentation, service design, design thinking or other structured approaches to product and venture development.
  • International experience: Experience operating across markets, cultures and time zones.
