We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Innovation and Development team at American Express Global Business Travel. In this pivotal role, you will be a core member of our agile development team, driving innovation and excellence in one of the travel industry's most critical technology ecosystems.

What You'll Do

• Perform hands-on software development & testing 75 to 80% of time Functions as a core member of an agile team driving user story analysis & elaboration, design and development of software applications, testing & builds automation tools

• Perform ongoing refactoring of code & drives continuous improvement in code structure & quality. The engineer uses visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts

• Contribute to writing code, API specs, conducting code reviews & testing in ongoing sprints or doing proof of concepts/automation tools

• Own a list of technical requirements that need to be included in product backlog based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects & issues

• Liaise with technical product manager to help manage prioritization of items in product backlog for ongoing sprints

• Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies

• Upgrade system software and hardware components as required to meet business needs

• Ensure upgrades are occurring in accordance with established parameters

• Create and maintain system documentation for domain technologies, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps

What we are looking for

• Minimum 7+ years of IT experience with focused development experience

• Must have 5+ years of hands-on experience in architecture and design of distributed applications.

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, information technology, computer related discipline or 5 years of IT work experience in a global information technology infrastructure environment

• Demonstrated experience with Agile or other rapid application development methods

• Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in how fast they develop working software

• Must be able to work in a team environment with a “can do” attitude capable of overcoming difficult challenges

• Demonstrated experience with object-oriented design and coding skills across a variety of platforms (.NET C#, SOA/Web Services, REST API, JSON, HTML/HTML5, CSS3, XML, AJAX, jQuery, JavaScript, AngularJS, Selenium, Python)

• AWS experience is preferred but not mandatory

• Business Travel Industry preferred but not mandatory

• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude code, Copilot, etc.).

• Experience with distributed (multi-threaded) systems, algorithms, message queuing, and relational/XML databases

• Exposure to SQL/SSIS/Postgres/Stored procedure development

• Must be willing and able to work in 2nd shifts (3:00 PM IST to 12:00 AM IST) and occasional weekends as required.

• Must be willing to work from Bangalore office location minimum 3 days in a week.
