As the Ending the HIV Epidemic Health Educator with the Maricopa County Ryan White Program, you will help deliver Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) activities to Ryan White partners, medical providers, businesses, and community-based organizations. In this role, you will conduct EHE presentations and trainings, provide input on the development of educational methods and materials, participate in needs assessment work, collect client-driven feedback, and engage community members through social media, newsletters, and in-person outreach events.

We Require
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish
- Attachment that reflects samples of writing, presentations, or posts created for social media
- One year of experience coordinating and administering Public Health programs with a focus on community engagement with diverse populations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Communications, or a related field
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions
- Implements, presents, and markets Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) health education programs, designed to increase awareness and knowledge within the community
- Works collaboratively with the EHE Program and Positively You! campaign to coordinate local outreach activities and social media strategy
- Develops and implements ongoing consumer-focused communication strategies, including newsletters, social media outreach, and email campaigns. Provides guidance to the Senior Health Educator on EHE educational activities based on evaluation results
- Participates in needs assessment work and gathers client-driven feedback to support quality improvement initiatives with the Ryan White Program
- Recruits participants for EHE activities, coordinates scheduling classes and focus groups, and reviews program evaluations
- Attend and orchestrate outreach events to increase HIV prevention awareness, Ryan White services to the community
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with a variety of internal and community partners to reduce HIV stigma
- Prepares written and digital materials for distribution to the community; updates information as needed for priority populations on emerging public health issues
Working Conditions
- Position may occasionally work nights and weekends based on business needs
- Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly and requires walking/standing to a significant degree
- Valid Arizona driver’s license is required upon hire
- Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
