Responsible for the collection/abstraction of the required department, state and national trauma data elements into the trauma registry database on all patients meeting trauma inclusion criteria. Maintains the confidentiality of registry data. Reports registry data for performance improvement activities and other internal and external requests. Collects and maintains data on continuing education for all trauma providers for compliance.The Trauma Data Abstractor is responsible for the collection/abstraction of the required department, state and national trauma data elements into the trauma registry database on all patients meeting trauma inclusion criteria.

Collects and maintains data on continuing education for all trauma providers for compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience coding and trauma registry
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (required within 2 years of employment)
- Completion of ICD-10 coding program or equivalent experience
- ICD9-CM/ICD 10-CM coding
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes and clinical /therapeutic modalities

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
