Job Description

Just imagine a new character, creature, or accessory becoming part of a child's next adventure. Then make it real.

About the role

As our Element Designer, you'll help shape the next generation of LEGO® character and organic elements. You'll work across the design ecosystem, turning creative ideas into production-ready 3D solutions that inspire play. Partnering with Concept Designers, Model Designers, Engineers, and Manufacturing teams, you'll create elements that balance creativity, quality, play value, safety, and manufacturability.

Required Qualifications

  • Created digital sculpts using tools such as ZBrush, Freeform, or similar 3D sculpting software
  • Developed character, creature, accessory, or product designs from concept through delivery
  • Translated 2D concepts into detailed 3D models
  • Demonstrated strong visual communication through sketches, presentations, and design documentation
  • Applied principles of form, proportion, and silhouette in professional design work
  • Completed a degree in Product Design, Character Design, Entertainment Design, Fine Arts, Animation, Industrial Design, or a related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Built physical models, prototypes, or sculptures as part of a design process
  • Worked with product development or manufacturing teams during design delivery
  • Designed products within toys, collectibles, entertainment, or consumer products

What you'll build

  • Design and develop organic LEGO elements for a wide range of play experiences
  • Create digital sculpts and prototypes that capture the LEGO design language
  • Develop animals, creatures, wigs, accessories, costumes, and specialised building elements
  • Produce sketches, presentations, and supporting design documentation
  • Explore new creative opportunities that enhance how children build and play
  • Contribute ideas, insights, and learnings that strengthen the wider design community

If you've worked in a role where you've transformed concepts into manufacturable 3D designs and collaborated across multiple disciplines, you'll feel at home here. What matters most is your ability to combine strong sculpting skills with thoughtful design development.

Some examples of what we would like to see

  • A portfolio showcasing sculpting, character design, 3D modelling capabilities and testing.
  • Your design process
  • Sketching, illustration, mood boards and idea generation
  • Experience creating physical models, prototypes or sculptures
  • Familiarity with product development or manufacturing processes
  • Interest in toys, collectibles, entertainment products or consumer products
  • Understanding of play from a child's perspective
  • How your imagination works

Please submit your CV, motivational letter and portfolio in English. A portfolio is required as part of your application and must either be uploaded directly (maximum upload size per file is 2 MB) or share a link clearly highlighted in the CV.

Life on the team

You'll join Element Design within the LEGO Group's Design organization. We're a collaborative team that brings together creativity, play, aesthetics, and manufacturing considerations to create new elements for future products. Curiosity, creativity, continuous learning, and positive teamwork are an important part of how we work together and how we turn ideas into meaningful play experiences.

What success looks like

Success means creating organic elements that delight children while meeting design, quality, safety, and manufacturing requirements. You'll help expand the possibilities of character and element design, working closely with creative and technical partners as new products move from concept to production. Over time, you'll become a trusted contributor who helps shape future LEGO play experiences through great design.
