Title and Summary

Director, Employment Tax

Overview:
This role serves as the primary subject-matter expert on employment tax matters, working in close partnership with cross-functional stakeholders and external providers, to execute global employment tax initiatives, translates complex, multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements into sustainable operating models, risk management, and serves as advisor on regulatory developments, and on complex employment tax matters affecting the global workforce across all jurisdictions in which the company operations.

Role:
• Execute and support global employment tax strategy, balancing compliance, risk mitigation, financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and cost optimization across all jurisdictions
• Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and business units on employment tax implications relating to workforce strategy, mobility programs, mergers and acquisitions, organizational restructuring, and evolving workforce models
• Interpret, and operationalize complex employment tax and social security legislation, in alignment with company policies, internal controls, and governance
• Lead tax planning initiatives and provide technical guidance on taxation of compensation and benefits, multi-jurisdictional taxation, recharge treatment and employer reporting and withholding requirements
• Assess worker classification matters, emerging workforce engagement models and related employment tax exposure
• Lead employment tax due diligence, integration, and restructuring activities for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and legal entity changes, including successor employer considerations, payroll transitions, and post-transaction compliance requirements.
• Facilitate resolution of employment tax audits, and disclosures, coordinating responses with tax authorities, external advisors, and internal stakeholders to achieve optimized outcomes.
• Support internal audit activities, including SOX compliance, payroll tax controls, financial statement audits, tax accrual reviews, and documentation requirements.
• Lead and deliver global and regional employment tax projects, ensuring effective project governance, stakeholder management, documentation, and cost-efficiency.

All About You:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Tax, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
• Employment tax experience in multinational organization and/or Big 4 global employer/ mobility tax services
• Demonstrated knowledge of employment tax across multiple international jurisdictions, managing tax audits and driving employment tax initiatives; overall work experience will be the overriding factor when considering years of experience
• Experience supporting M&A, global expansion, or large-scale payroll and finance transformation initiatives
• Experience with equity compensation taxation and Stock Administration systems (e.g., E*TRADE, Fidelity, Shareworks)
• Strong understanding of payroll and finance systems, including data flows between payroll, tax engines, and the general ledger; experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP)
• Communication and stakeholder management capabilities, ability to translate employment tax issues into clear financial risk assessments and remediation plans.
• Proven ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Ability to organize, manage and work effectively to accomplish multiple tasks
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in groups to complete time-sensitive projects within internal and external deadlines
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with people at all levels in the organization
