Director, Site Merchandising – Men’s, Kids, Gifting & Seasonal Campaigns
J.Crew’s digital storefront is one of our most important growth engines and the place where millions of customers experience our brand every day. We’re looking for a Director, Site Merchandising to own the online business for Men’s, Kids, Gifting, and Seasonal Campaigns, bringing together commercial ownership, digital merchandising, and storytelling to create a shopping experience customers love and that delivers profitable growth.
Role Summary
The Director, Site Merchandising is the commercial owner of the digital storefront for Men’s, Kids, Gifting, and Seasonal Campaigns, responsible for driving sales, margin, and conversion for those businesses across site and app.
Reporting to the VP, eCommerce, this leader translates enterprise and merchandising priorities into a clear commercial plan for their businesses, spanning assortment presentation, discovery, content, and the seasonal and gifting moments that anchor the calendar. Using customer insight and daily performance data, the Director identifies the biggest opportunities, partners closely with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Creative, and delivers measurable improvements in revenue, conversion, and customer engagement.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who pairs strong commercial instincts with operating rigor, and who can read the business quickly, make clear trade-offs, execute against a demanding seasonal calendar, and set a high bar for how the brand shows up on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Men’s & Kids Online Business: Act as the commercial owner for Men’s and Kids on site and app. Set weekly and monthly priorities, make trade-offs across categories, and drive the business against sales, margin, conversion, and engagement targets.
- Lead Gifting & Seasonal Campaigns: Own the digital merchandising strategy and site execution for Gifting and all seasonal campaign moments. Build the site plan and campaign calendar in partnership with Merchandising, Marketing, and Creative, and lead flawless execution from brief through launch and post-mortem.
- Drive Digital Merchandising & Storytelling: Set how the commercial plan comes to life for customers across navigation, category and collection pages, sort and search, product presentation, and campaign storytelling, in a way that feels distinctly J.Crew. Create moments of inspiration while making it effortless for customers to find what they love.
- Lead In-Season Trade & Promotional Execution: Read the business daily and weekly, and adjust site presentation, product exposure, and promotional messaging to chase demand and protect margin. Partner with Planning and Merchandising on inventory actions, markdowns, and key business moments.
- Improve the Digital Shopping Experience: Identify friction and opportunity in the journeys for Men’s, Kids, and Gifting, and translate them into clear experience requirements. Use testing, personalization, and continuous optimization to improve conversion and customer experience.
- Operate with Performance Rigor: Build a fact-based approach to understanding performance: what drove the week, what to do about it, and what to stop doing. Set clear goals, report results and learnings clearly, and create a culture of urgency and continuous improvement.
- Lead and Develop the Team: Manage, coach, and develop a team of site merchandisers supporting Men’s, Kids, Gifting, and Seasonal. Set a high bar for commercial instinct, customer obsession, and execution quality, and grow the next generation of digital merchants.
- Anticipate What’s Next: Maintain an external perspective on customer behavior, competitors, and digital commerce, particularly in men’s, kids’, and gifting, and translate those shifts into recommendations that strengthen the business.
Leadership & Collaboration
Operate as a commercial leader across J.Crew, creating alignment around the priorities and actions required to drive the Men’s, Kids, Gifting, and Seasonal businesses online. Bring a clear point of view, influence decisions across Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, Creative, and Product, establish shared accountability, and mobilize partners around the moments that matter most.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in site merchandising, eCommerce, or a related commercial discipline, including 2+ years leading and developing a team.
- Proven track record owning an online business or category and delivering measurable sales, margin, and conversion growth.
- Strong commercial and analytical acumen, with demonstrated ability to read a business, identify opportunities, and make informed trade-offs.
- Experience leading campaign or seasonal execution end to end, with the project management discipline to deliver on a demanding calendar.
- Solid understanding of digital merchandising, site content, search and discovery, conversion optimization, and the platforms that enable modern commerce.
- Ability to translate strategy into a clear weekly operating plan and rally cross-functional partners to deliver against it.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present a clear point of view to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with men’s, kids’, or gifting businesses in a multi-brand or specialty retail environment is a plus.
