Job Description Summary

The Director of the Urban Cohort provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for Miami University's Urban Cohort. The Director is responsible for the program's vision, operations, recruitment, student programming, partnerships, fundraising, personnel supervision, budgeting, teaching, and assessment. Working collaboratively with university and community partners, the Director advances the Urban Cohort's mission of preparing transformative professionals through community-engaged learning and partnership.

Job Description

The Director of the Urban Cohort provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for Miami University's Urban Cohort. The Director is responsible for the program's vision, operations, recruitment, student programming, partnerships, fundraising, personnel supervision, budgeting, teaching, and assessment. Working collaboratively with university and community partners, the Director advances the Urban Cohort's mission of preparing transformative professionals through community-engaged learning and partnership.

Essential Duties

• Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Urban Cohort, including planning, budgeting, recruitment, assessment, and operations.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate academic, co-curricular, and community-based programming that supports student learning and engagement.

• Recruit, advise, and support Urban Cohort students and oversee affiliated initiatives, including the Fostering Just Communities Certificate and community immersion experiences.

• Develop and sustain partnerships with schools, community organizations, and university units to strengthen experiential learning opportunities and advance program goals.

• Lead fundraising, grant development, and donor stewardship to support program sustainability and growth.

• Support research, assessment, and dissemination activities that document program outcomes and promote scholarship and public engagement.

• Supervise assigned personnel, manage program budgets, and ensure effective stewardship of program resources.

• Teach Urban Cohort coursework. 

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree.

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in education, program leadership, community engagement, or a related field.

• Experience developing partnerships with schools, community organizations, or other stakeholders.

• Experience leading or managing academic or community-based programs.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with strategic planning, program development, and assessment.

• Experience securing external funding through grant writing, fundraising experience, or donor engagement. 

• Excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across diverse constituencies.

• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.

Additional Information

• Local travel is required to support partnerships, recruitment, fundraising, community and professional conferences.
