Summary of Job Duties:

The School of Social Work in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor as Director of Online Practicum Education to start in July 2027. This is a standard twelve-month faculty appointment.

The Director of Online Practicum Education, a non-tenure-track faculty position is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all aspects of practicum education for students enrolled in the online Master of Social Work (MSW) Program. This individual will work collaboratively with the Director of Practicum Education to support the overall success of the practicum education program, with a continued focus on the growth and expansion of online field education opportunities.

Primary administrative responsibilities include developing and maintaining community partnerships to secure high-quality practicum placements for online students; providing individualized field advising, coordinating internship placements for all online MSW students, and internship supervision when needed; facilitating access to and utilization of Tevera, the program's online practicum management and tracking system, for students and all stakeholders, and delivering ongoing training and support to practicum instructors and faculty liaisons. The Director will oversee all sections of the online internship seminar courses and serve as a primary resource for students, practicum instructors, faculty, and community partners by providing consultation, guidance, and problem resolution related to practicum education experiences.

Additional responsibilities include assisting with the planning and implementation of the annual Practicum Instructor Appreciation Breakfast and recognizing outstanding student achievement by presenting the Excellence in Practicum Education Awards to online MSW students during the MSW Pinning Ceremony. Faculty responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving as Co-Chair of the Practicum Education Committee; maintaining membership on the Curriculum Committee; attending and representing the program at the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Annual Program Meeting (APM), engaging in professional networking and staying informed of accreditation standards, Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS), and other developments relevant to social work education; and maintaining an active record of teaching, scholarship, and service. The Director is also expected to participate in monthly faculty meetings, university events, and other assigned departmental and institutional activities.

This is an in-person position. On-campus presence is an essential function of this position. Extensive in-person engagement in activities such as office hours, student advising, collaborative work, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is required to advance student success, departmental effectiveness, and the mission of the college and the university. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment

  • At least two years post-MSW practice experience

  • Eligible for social work licensure in Arkansas

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of effective teaching experience. Relevant experience may include classroom instruction, training, professional development, workshop facilitation, field supervision, student mentoring, curriculum design, online instruction, or other roles involving the development and delivery of learning experiences

  • Strong evidence of the ability to be an active, involved, and collegial member of a collaborative faculty team

  • Evidence of experience in program administration, development, and/or coordination

  • Evidence of, or a demonstrated potential for, an active research agenda and/or scholarly/creative activity

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Practicum Education & accreditation standards

  • Understanding of strategic leadership & program management

  • Proficient in educational technology platforms

  • Skilled in relationship building and community partner engagement.
