Sobre esta vaga de Director of Credit na Capchase

Capchase · Remoto · United States

Capchase is on a mission to transform how hardware and software companies sell and get paid, revolutionizing the equipment financing space. Recently named a 2026 Monitor Best Company in Innovation, we're recognized for embedding flexible payment terms directly into the sales workflow, helping teams close faster without the friction of a separate financing system.

We're the modern platform for financing leading enterprise solutions: built for direct and channel sales motions, with $2B+ funded, approvals in seconds, and a seamless experience for both sellers and buyers. Backed by leading fintech investors including 01A, Thomvest, QED, SciFi, and Invesco, we've raised $700M+ in equity and debt to fuel our growth.

In just over five years, we've scaled from four co-founders to 80+ Capchasers across 10 markets, supporting thousands of companies globally and processing billions in payment volume.

Since our launch in 2020, we've achieved several milestones:
➡ 10K+ active vendors, channel partners and buyers
🙌 Built a team representing over 15 nationalities
🌎 Active in 10 markets
📈 Top decile YoY growth
👫 Built an awesome culture.

In December 2024 we reached the top of the Installment Payment, BNPL category on G2, #1 in B2B.

Why work with us?

Help accelerate an industry!

At Capchase, we are transforming how software and tech-enabled hardware equipment gets financed, we move and innovate fast. We’re always looking for the brightest minds to join us. We’re a diverse team of 15+ nationalities with a shared passion for helping innovative companies thrive. Join the climb with us!

The context you'll find

We let B2B vendors (software, hardware, and hybrid) offer their customers deferred and installment payment terms while the vendor gets paid upfront. Independent means we are not captive to a single manufacturer: we underwrite across many vendors' buyer bases, in multiple currencies and jurisdictions, and we fund both on balance sheet and through capital-markets partners.

Two credit books sit underneath that: the buyers who take payment terms, and the vendors whose paper and performance risk we take on. This role owns the hard end of the first and works closely on the second.

Why this role, now

We are seeing a spike in volume of credit requests in excess of $500,000. That means more files that need proper financial spreads and analysis rather than a scorecard-driven approach, more presentations to credit committee, more escalations that need a decisive answer the same day. We are also entering adjacent financial products like leasing and receivables financing which broadens the scope of credit underwriting.

We want a Director of Credit who can carry that responsibility: underwrite the biggest files personally, hold delegated authority beneath the Committee, build syndication relationships to place larger tickets and build the bench.

What you'll own

1. Large-ticket underwriting, hands-on and AI-driven

You are the underwriter on large tickets. Spread audited and CPA-reviewed financials on your own heavily using AI; work agency and shadow ratings; assess leverage, coverage, liquidity, and quality of earnings; run the subsidiary-bankruptcy and going-concern checks; and where the standalone credit doesn't clear, structure your way to a yes: upfront first payment, annual or semi-annual amortization, a compressed exposure window, guaranties, vendor recourse. You write the credit memo. You carry it to Credit Committee and defend it.

2. Credit authority and the escalation desk

Hold delegated signing authority in the sub-$500k band and act as a key escalation point for analysts, sales, and vendor partners. Escalations get an answer in hours, with the reasoning written down. You own exception discipline: what qualifies, who approves, how it's documented, and how often we're granting them.

3. Syndication and capital-markets readiness

A growing share of our paper is sold, participated, or forward-flowed. You own the standard that makes a Capchase file clear someone else's credit team on the first pass: the external memo format, the diligence package, the consistency of grading. You'll work with Capital Markets on eligibility criteria, concentration limits, reps and warranties, and repurchase triggers, and you'll manage referrals of above-ceiling and restricted-profile requests out to partners. You will work on developing new syndication relationships too.

4. Leasing and transaction structure

Bring real lessor instincts: FMV vs. $1-out, capital vs. operating treatment, residual assumptions, soft-cost caps, deferral structures, personal and corporate guaranties, UCC filings and collateral perfection, and how each of those changes the credit question. You'll also handle cross-border structure across our licensed markets outside of the US as well as restricted-jurisdiction carve-outs.

5. Credit policy and portfolio

Co-own the credit policy with the VP Risk: rating tiers, limit formulas, feature eligibility, approval authority. On the portfolio side: watch list, delinquency and loss trends, concentration by vendor, industry, and buyer, and the loss vs. auto-approval-rate trade-off we're willing to run.

6. Automation partnership

Work with critical systems on the decisioning stack: Taktile rules, bureau inputs (PayNet, D&B/SBFE, Creditsafe, Experian), scorecard calibration, and the manual-review queue. You should have opinions about where a human adds credit judgment and where a rule is simply better, and be able to pull your own data to back them up.

7. Support the team

Coach and calibrate our first and second line underwriters. Run credit calibration sessions. Get to the point where the team handles the standard book with real quality and you spend your time on the large tickets, the exceptions, and the policy.

What good looks like

  • First 90 days: You own the escalation queue end to end. You've reviewed our last 50 large-ticket decisions and told us where you'd have landed differently and why.

  • Six months: A standardized large-ticket memo and Committee cadence in place. Measurable improvement in time-to-decision on escalated files. Delegated authority expanded because it's earned.

  • Twelve months: Policy and engine at parity. A file standard our capital-markets partners accept without rework. A credit team that doesn't need you in the room for standard deals.

What we're looking for

Required:

  • 6 to 12+ years in commercial credit: equipment leasing, vendor or captive finance, specialty finance, bank ABL, or middle-market commercial lending.

  • You have personally underwritten and signed large-ticket commercial credit: $1M+ single obligor, and you're comfortable at the $2.5M level. Not "supported" or "reviewed." Signed.

  • Genuine leasing background. Lease structures, residuals, lessor economics, and documentation are things you've lived in, not read about.

  • Syndication experience: buying or selling paper, participations, or forward-flow. You know what a third-party credit committee needs to say yes, because you've either been that committee or had to satisfy one.

  • You've held delegated credit authority and made calls under time pressure with a salesperson in the room, without either rubber-stamping or stalling.

  • Credit judgment on imperfect files: bureau-only, unaudited, private company, thin trade depth, foreign accounting frameworks. Much of our book will never hand you an audited statement.

  • Writing. Your memos have to persuade a Committee and survive an external reader. Clear, sourced, decisive.

  • AI-first. You use AI to gain incremental productivity daily and focus on higher value add tasks and decisions.

Nice to have

  • Formal bank and/or leasing credit training program, CFA, CPA, or equivalent grounding

  • Multi-jurisdiction and multi-currency underwriting, especially UK/EU/Canada/Australia

  • Experience in a scale-up where the process didn't exist yet and you built it while running it

  • SQL or BI comfort: you can pull your own portfolio cut rather than filing a request

  • Exposure to automated decisioning platforms and scorecard governance

  • SaaS, hardware, or mixed-ticket experience; or a captive-finance background for contrast

Not required:

  • A fintech background. We'd rather hire deep credit and teach the fintech.

How we work

Small team, high autonomy, short distance to the decision. Credit has a real seat here: we are not a growth org with a risk function bolted on. You'll disagree with sales sometimes and you'll be expected to say so directly, in writing, with your reasoning attached.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
