As a globally distributed, fast-growing startup, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the wide range of perspectives needed to solve the world’s hardest connectivity problems.
What You Will Be Up To
Lead the annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, and long-range plan. Build and maintain an integrated monthly income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow model with clear drivers and scenarios.
Connect customer and contract assumptions to bookings, billings, revenue, collections, and backlog. Model renewals, implementation milestones, advance payments, government award timing, and funding risk; distinguish committed business from options and contract vehicle ceilings.
Establish consistent ARR, ACV, retention, gross margin, sales efficiency, burn multiple, and runway reporting. Distinguish recurring software from services and other nonrecurring work; partner with the Controller on accounting assumptions and reconciliations.
Partner with Engineering, Product, Sales, public sector leaders, and People on headcount, compensation, infrastructure costs, budgets, and resource allocation. Assess pricing, discounting, delivery capacity, and software and services margins.
Own management reporting, variance analysis, and financial analysis for board materials. Support the CFO with financing scenarios, investor diligence, and recommendations that balance growth and capital efficiency.
Build repeatable planning and business review processes, improve data quality across finance, CRM, and HR systems, and scale tools and team capacity as needed.
What Helps You Thrive
Ownership of company-wide or substantial business-unit planning in a growing software business, with a record of building useful forecasts and operating reviews.
Advanced Excel or Google Sheets modeling skills, including integrated financial statements, headcount planning, contract or customer schedules, and cash scenarios.
Strong command of software economics, recurring revenue metrics, and the differences between bookings, billings, recognized revenue, and collections.
Ability to challenge assumptions constructively, influence functional leaders, and explain financial tradeoffs clearly to executives and board-level audiences.
Hands-on experience working with imperfect data and building practical reporting processes, supported by finance education or equivalent professional experience.
A proactive and curious attitude about how AI can support your role through automation, ideation, or more thoughtful decision-making.
Great to Haves
Experience at a venture-backed software company, including board reporting, fundraising support, and capital allocation.
Government software sales, procurement cycles, funded versus unfunded opportunities, and contract-level profitability and cash forecasting.
Software license, usage, services, and channel models, plus familiarity with ASC 606 sufficient to partner with the Controller.
SQL, business intelligence, planning system implementation, or experience developing a small finance team.
What Success Looks Like
In your first six months, establish an integrated monthly forecast, documented ARR and ACV definitions, and a useful monthly business review and board reporting cadence. Over the first year, improve visibility into contract and headcount drivers, explain forecast variances, and help leaders make better investment decisions with clear scenarios and cash runway analysis.
