- Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
- Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
- Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
- Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
- Assists dentist in managing dental emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
Education Requirement:
Graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience, required.
Licensure Requirement:
Current license to practice dental radiography in State of Ohio, required.
Certifications:
Board Certified in Coronal Polishing in State of Ohio, required.
Skills:
- Robust communication skills, required.
- Demonstratedability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
- Possesses good manual dexterity.
- Abilityto monitor nitrous oxide and patient after analgesia is administered.
Experience:
Two years of experience as a chairside assistant, required.
