These teams set the strategic vision, operating plans, and investment priorities to create compelling and distinct traveler value and drive business growth. The team is responsible for effectively partnering with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Product, Technology, Supply, Advertising, Servicing, and Corporate Functions to deliver the best traveler and business outcomes.

This Data Scientist III role sits on the Business Performance Analytics team. You will turn ambiguous commercial questions into decisions that shape Expedia Group’s strategic priorities, product roadmap, and marketing tactics. Your work will influence how millions of travelers discover, choose, and book — partnering with product, marketing, and supply, and with central analytics teams.

In this role, you will:

·   Frame ambiguous business questions and design rigorous analyses and experiments that inform Expedia Group strategy, product, and marketing decisions.

·   Translate large-scale data into clear recommendations, then follow them through from extraction and insight to implementation and evaluation.

·   Build and improve analytical products, automation, and executive-ready reporting so leaders can see performance and act faster.

·   Partner with product, marketing, and supply, and with central analytics teams; regularly influence Director-level stakeholders with transparent, timely recommendations.

·   Lead analytical workstreams independently, raise the quality bar for methods and storytelling, and mentor more junior colleagues.

·   Apply modern analytics tooling and AI-assisted development practices to speed up analysis and turn repeatable work into durable products.

Experience and qualifications

Minimum qualifications

·   You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.

·   You are highly proficient in SQL and experienced working with complex, large-scale data ecosystems.

·   You have delivered end-to-end analytics: framing the problem, extracting and analyzing data, telling a clear story, supporting implementation, and evaluating impact.

·   You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, including Director-level stakeholders, through presentations (for example, PowerPoint) and reporting (for example, Tableau).

·   You apply sound business judgment, work both collaboratively and independently, and take a proactive approach to spotting problems, identifying opportunities, and meeting key deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

·   You have 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related quantitative role, including work that changed a business decision.

·   You use Python (or similar) to automate analysis and build analytical products, and you have experience with experimentation or causal measurement.

·   You have built analytical products, automation, or AI-assisted analytics workflows, not only one-off analyses.
