Role Summary and Impact

We collaborate with the world’s most ambitious brands to solve complex challenges in media and marketing through data and technology. From econometrics and media buying algorithms to dashboards and strategic consulting, our work has an impact.
WPP Media Sweden is building a local data engineering capability to support the entire Swedish organisation. The team will create the data foundations that help us work smarter across data, automation, measurement, Open Intelligence and AI, while turning Nordic and global technology investments into concrete value for the Swedish business.
As an Data Engineer, you will learn to build and maintain reliable cloud-based data solutions that make client data easier to access, improve reporting automation and enable advanced analytics. You will work closely with experienced colleagues across data engineering, business intelligence, data science and media, with guidance and room to grow.

What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing team in Stockholm. In this role, you will:
- Support the development and maintenance of cloud-based data pipelines and infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Use Python and SQL to collect, transform and prepare data for reporting, measurement, analytics and AI use cases.
- Assist with data quality checks, monitoring and troubleshooting to help keep data products accurate and reliable.
- Work with colleagues in media, business intelligence and data science to understand internal needs and turn them into practical data solutions.
- Contribute to documentation, version control and repeatable engineering practices, including infrastructure and transformation workflows.
- Take part in training, workshops and knowledge sharing, while gradually taking ownership of well-defined engineering tasks.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar quantitative or technical field.
- Experience with programming, gained through education, projects or work experience. We use Python as our main coding language.
- Foundational knowledge of SQL and an understanding of how structured data is stored, transformed and queried.
- An interest in cloud platforms and modern data engineering. We use Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- A structured and curious approach to problem-solving, with care for data quality and documentation.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to explain technical questions clearly to colleagues with different backgrounds.
- English: Fluent in speech and writing
- You have a valid work permit in Sweden
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience from internships, student projects or personal projects involving data pipelines, APIs, databases or cloud services.
- Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
- Exposure to GCP, Terraform, Dataform, dbt or similar data engineering tools.
- Experience with Power BI or another business intelligence tool, or an interest in media, marketing or measurement.
- Swedish: good understanding in speech and writing
