DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES | About the role
The Asia Credit Manager is responsible for leading credit risk management across the region, supporting profitable growth while protecting cash flow and minimizing bad-debt exposure. The role establishes consistent credit standards, provides independent and timely credit decisions, and drives disciplined management of customer receivables and overdue balances.
The role reports to the APAC CFO with a dotted reporting line into the Group Director of Credit Management, and works closely with Finance, Sales, Operations, Legal and Treasury across the Group, Regional and Countries organizations. The Asia Credit Manager will oversee the regional credit framework, assess material exposures, monitor portfolio risk, support country teams on deal structuring & complex cases, and provide clear reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
As the Asia Credit Manager, you will lead the following activities:
Credit Risk Governance
- Develop, implement and maintain a consistent credit risk framework, policies, approval authorities and operating procedures across Asia.
- Ensure credit decisions comply with internal policies, delegated authorities, contractual requirements and applicable local regulations.
- Promote strong governance, documentation quality and audit readiness across country credit and collections processes.
- Review regional credit practices and recommend improvements to strengthen controls, consistency, speed and commercial relevance.
- Leverage automation and AI to streamline credit processes, improve productivity, strengthen controls and accelerate decision-making.
- Act as the regional escalation point for significant, complex or non-standard customer credit matters.
- Manage credit insurance coverage across Asia, including customer-limit applications, policy compliance, renewals, claims and relationships with insurers and brokers.
Credit Assessment and Decision-Making
- Lead or independently review credit assessments for new and existing customers, including financial statements, payment history, market information, ownership structure and security available.
- Recommend and approve credit limits, payment terms, guarantees and other risk mitigants within delegated authority; escalate matters requiring higher approval with a clear recommendation.
- Support commercial teams in structuring transactions that balance growth opportunities, customer needs and acceptable risk.
Portfolio Monitoring and Collections Oversight
- Monitor customer exposures, overdue receivables, concentration risks, limit utilization and emerging portfolio trends across Asia.
- Identify deteriorating accounts early and coordinate action plans with Country Finance, Sales, Legal and other stakeholders.
- Provide oversight and challenge on collections priorities, dispute resolution, payment plans, provisioning, write-offs and recovery strategies.
Stakeholder Partnership and Capability Building
- Build effective relationships with country finance and commercial teams, while maintaining independent credit judgment.
- Coach and support local teams to strengthen credit analysis, negotiation, collections discipline and risk awareness.
- Communicate decisions and risk positions clearly, including the rationale, conditions, mitigation actions and follow-up requirements.
Reporting, Controls and Projects
- Prepare accurate and timely regional credit reporting, portfolio analysis, risk dashboards and management commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Support internal and external audits, system or process implementations, policy updates and other regional Finance projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE | About you
The ideal Asia Credit Manager will have
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related discipline; a relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
- Substantial experience in commercial credit risk / credit control within a regional distribution technology environment.
- Demonstrated experience in credit management within the IT distribution, technology or cybersecurity industry is required. Applications from candidates without relevant sector experience are unlikely to be considered.
- Strong financial statement analysis skills and the ability to translate financial, operational and market information into sound credit decisions.
- Practical knowledge of credit limits, payment terms, guarantees, letters of credit, credit insurance, provisioning, collections and recovery processes.
- Experience working across multiple countries and legal or business environments, with the judgment to balance regional consistency and local requirements.
- Proven ability to influence senior commercial and finance stakeholders, challenge constructively and communicate difficult decisions clearly.
- Strong analytical capability, attention to detail and proficiency in ERP systems, credit reporting tools and Microsoft Excel.
- A hands-on, proactive and collaborative working style, with the ability to prioritize effectively and operate in a fast-paced regional environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Additional Asian language capability is an advantage.
