Job Description:

The Cost Controller supports the Project Manager and Project Controls Lead in managing the project cost baseline, forecasts and financial performance. The role is responsible for maintaining reliable cost data, supporting forecasting and reporting activities and providing accurate and timely cost insights to enable effective project decision making.

Job Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Establish project control budgets from approved estimates and schedules, ensuring full understanding of estimate basis, scope, schedule and execution plan.

• Maintain project cost structures, budget, commitments, actuals, accruals, VOWD and cost reports.

• Support cost forecasting, cashflow and variance analysis.

• Review contractor cost reports, invoices, staffing plans, progress quantities and unit-rate information.

• Support progress measurements in collaborative with Project Planner.

• Escalate cost risks, forecast movements, unsupported contractor claims and data quality issues.

• Maintain cost data integrity across reporting systems including CMMS (Maximo, S/4HANA), Excel and Power BI.

• Support change control by assessing cost impact and incorporating approved changes into project forecasts

• Prepare clear inputs for project reporting, including, but not limited to, dashboards and governance reports.

Job Qualifications

Core Competency 

• Strong knowledge of project cost management, financial governance and cost reporting including budgets, commitments, actuals, VOWD and cash flow management.

• Strong knowledge of forecasting and cost performance management including EAC development, trend analysis and final cost prediction.

• Strong understanding of contractor cost control, change management and performance measurement including invoice verification, cost impact assessment and progress validation.
  

Demonstrated Experience 

• Significant experience in project cost control within Oil and Gas, refining or heavy industrial environments. 

• Significant experience in cost controls systems. 

• Preferred experience in quantity unit rate reporting on major capital projects and decommissioning projects.
