The opportunity
We're looking for an exceptional Controller to build and lead the accounting function of a technology company reinventing one of the world's oldest industries.
We design products. We manufacture them. We deploy them on construction sites. And we're developing the systems to do all of this at national scale.
That creates an extraordinary opportunity for someone who wants to do more than manage an accounting department.
You'll help design the financial infrastructure of the company itself.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll lead a small team, establish the policies and systems that support our growth, and ensure that our financial reporting meets the standards expected by sophisticated investors, lenders, and auditors.
This is a hands-on leadership role with substantial autonomy, visibility, and responsibility.
Who you are
- A builder. You love creating systems, establishing processes, and making organizations work better. You're energized by the opportunity to build something rather than inherit it.
- An exceptional accountant. You have a deep command of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and the disciplines required to maintain accurate books.
- Fluent in manufacturing economics. You understand inventory, work in process, standard costing, and the financial mechanics of manufacturing operations.
- Comfortable with complexity. Multiple entities, intercompany transactions, project accounting, and evolving business models don't intimidate you.
- Technologically ambitious. You're an enthusiastic adopter of new technologies, including AI, and constantly look for ways to make financial processes smarter, faster, and more reliable.
- A hands-on leader. You're equally comfortable developing a team, designing a reporting system, and personally resolving a difficult reconciliation.
- Intellectually curious. You ask why things work the way they do and aren't afraid to challenge conventional practices.
- Entrepreneurial. You understand that in a rapidly growing company, the right answer isn't always in a manual. Sometimes you have to invent it.
You should be a CPA with substantial progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing cost accounting, audit preparation, ERP systems, and managing a small team. Experience with NetSuite, multi-entity accounting, and consolidations is particularly valuable.
Above all, we're looking for exceptional intellect, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the determination to build something extraordinary.

At Vessel, you'll work directly with the founder, have genuine authority to shape your function, and participate in the ownership of the business you're helping create.
Compensation includes a $190,000–$200,000 base salary, annual performance bonus, and a meaningful equity grant.
