What Your Impact Is

As a Consulting Senior Associate, you will support the planning, permitting, and environmental assessment of projects across sectors such as renewable energy, mining, transportation, and oil and gas. Your contributions will help clients make informed decisions, meet regulatory requirements, engage stakeholders effectively, and advance projects responsibly.

You will:

• Support regulatory, permitting, and environmental impact assessment activities for a variety of client projects.
• Collaborate with project managers and technical specialists to deliver high-quality project outcomes that meet client expectations.
• Support community and stakeholder engagement activities throughout project planning and permitting processes.
• Assist with permit application scoping, regulatory research, technical writing, permitting documentation, environmental management plans, and development of client recommendations.
• Coordinate and integrate technical input from ERM subject matter experts.
• Support project delivery by helping manage data collection, information review, GIS coordination, desktop publishing assignments, and regulatory documentation.
• Build collaborative relationships with ERM professionals across Canada and around the world.
• Contribute to business development initiatives through client research, proposal preparation, and marketing support activities.
• Apply critical thinking and strategic problem-solving to help deliver meaningful outcomes for clients and communities.

What You'll Bring

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 1+ years of professional consulting or industry experience in the environmental or sustainability field.
• Understanding of environmental and social effects related to mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, transportation, and/or related developments.
• Interest in project management, including deliverable tracking, budget tracking, and client communications.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent writing, communication, organization, attention to detail, and time management skills. Please demonstrate within application, resume, and cover letter.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools including schedules and budget tracking tools.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Preferred

• Experience in environmental consulting, industry, or government.
• Awareness of Canadian federal, provincial, and territorial regulations and guidelines, particularly environmental assessment and permitting processes in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and/or Nunavut, or familiarity with similar legislation in other jurisdictions.
• Fluency in additional languages, including Indigenous languages and/or French.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide input on regulatory, permitting, and environmental impact assessment tasks in support of client projects.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously alongside project managers to ensure successful project delivery and quality outcomes.
• Assist with stakeholder and community engagement activities.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, permit applications, environmental management plans, and supporting regulatory materials.
• Conduct data gathering, regulatory research, permitting reviews, and technical analyses.
• Coordinate project-related workstreams and collaborate with GIS, desktop publishing, and technical specialist teams.
• Support proposal preparation, market research, and business development activities.
• Develop practical recommendations and solutions that help clients achieve project objectives while meeting regulatory requirements.
• Foster strong working relationships with colleagues across ERM's global network.
• Contribute to a culture of safety, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

For the Consulting Senior Associate, Environmental Assessment position, the anticipated annual base pay is $68,700–$85,900 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay subject to the sole discretion of ERM and its policies and procedures (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
