You will also be required to provide upkeep to the composite shop while assisting engineers and shop employees in various tasks including: maintenance, general fabrication, testing, inspection, assembly and other shop related activities.

What you get to do!

  • Create prototype aerospace parts for testing, proof of concept, and display
  • Work from solid models, engineering drawings, written work instructions and process specifications to build and assemble mechanical components

  • Drill, torque, and install fasteners, rivets, and adhesives with precision
  • Fabricate tooling and molds using materials such as aluminum, composites, and wood
  • Assemble composite structures using RTV/Epoxy bonding, shimming, and fastening methods
  • Apply aerospace finishes, primers, and coatings to parts and assemblies
  • Set up new production work areas, including tooling and equipment
  • Operate a wide range of calibrated tools, precision instruments, and metrology systems
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance shop safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Support first article builds and the transition from development to production
  • Troubleshoot and correct defects through rework, repair, or modification
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and shop personnel to solve fabrication and assembly challenges
  • Mentor entry-level engineers on composite layup, fabrication techniques, and best practices

What you will bring to the Team

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training, with 1–2 years of hands-on composite fabrication experience in a production or aerospace environment
  • Strong understanding of composite layup techniques, adhesive bonding, and mechanical assembly processes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, solid models, and work instructions, including familiarity with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators
  • Experience with fabrication of tooling, molds, and fixtures using various materials (aluminum, composites, wood)
  • Working knowledge of metrology systems such as Romer Arm or other CMM tools
  • Capable of troubleshooting, reworking, and improving parts and assemblies to meet quality standards
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing project priorities
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across engineering, production, and quality teams
  • Eagerness to continue learning new skills in areas such as electrical systems, welding, additive manufacturing, and engineering testing
  • A continuous improvement mindset focused on safety, quality, and operational excellence
