The Role:

We’re seeking a Compliance Officer and MLRO (CO/MLRO) to support our licensing process and establish compliance operations for Taptap Send in Malaysia.

The role is based in Kuala Lumpur, so you must either be currently based there, or willing to relocate.

What you’ll do:

• Support the licensing process in Malaysia, including preparation and review of application materials, liaison with regulators, and coordination with external counsel and advisors.

• Set up local compliance operations and establish an effective compliance framework aligned with Taptap Send Group’s standards.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable Malaysian laws and regulations, including all relevant BNM policy documents and guidelines.

• Manage and coordinate regulatory reporting to BNM, ensuring timely and accurate submissions and proactive communication of material changes.

• Develop, maintain and update policies and procedures tailored to Taptap Send’s Malaysian operations and the applicable licensing requirements.

• Conduct compliance testing and monitoring, ensuring prompt remediation of identified issues.

• Prepare internal compliance reports for senior management and the board.

• Evaluate and submit suspicious transaction reports to the Financial Intelligence and Enforcement Department of BNM in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee CDD, KYC and EDD for customers, partners, products and distribution channels.

• Oversee compliance with sanctions screening, targeted financial sanctions and counter-proliferation financing requirements.

• Collaborate with Group Compliance and internal audit teams to strengthen controls and maintain consistency with global standards.

• Act as the principal point of contact for AML/CFT/CPF matters and maintain effective working relationships with BNM and other relevant authorities.

What You'll Need:

• Strong knowledge of Malaysia’s AML/CFT regulatory framework, including the MSBA, AMLA and relevant BNM AML/CFT/CPF and targeted financial sanctions requirements.

• 5+ years of compliance experience within a fintech, payments provider, remittance business or other financial institution regulated by BNM.

• Experience managing regulatory engagements, ideally including responsibility for or significant involvement in licensing projects.

• Knowledge of cross-border payments and e-money issuance is a strong plus.

• Experience with compliance technology tools (e.g. transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, KYC platforms, etc.).

• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to build processes from the ground up.

• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience.

• The experience, seniority and independence necessary to perform the responsibilities of a Compliance Officer effectively.

• ACAMS, ICA or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
