• Stand up the commissioning program for 50GW+ of capacity this decade.

• Run commissioning and QA-QC for first-of-a-kind modular data centers.

• Automate Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning.

Role Scope

• Act as the Owner's Commissioning Site Manager across multiple sites, directing general contractors, designers, commissioning agents, and vendors through Level 1 to Level 5 commissioning of chilled water, HVAC, electrical, BMS, and EPMS systems.

• Witness and verify pre-functional and functional testing in the field: flushing and pressure testing, test and balance, equipment startup, sequence of operations validation, NETA acceptance testing of electrical gear, and integrated systems tests.

• Review commissioning plans, method of procedure documents, test scripts, and vendor startup reports against ASHRAE, BCxA, and NETA requirements before they reach the field, and send back anything that would not hold up.

• Own the commissioning schedule and issues log for each site, surfacing failed tests, open punch items, and vendor readiness gaps early enough to protect energization and turnover dates.

• Troubleshoot startup and performance issues on mechanical plant, electrical distribution, and their controls, isolate the root cause to design, installation, controls, or equipment, and drive the fix to close through the responsible party.

What We're Looking For

The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.

• You've served as the Owner's commissioning lead on a hyperscale or mission critical data center build, holding general contractors, designers, commissioning agents, and vendors who did not report to you to the test plan and the schedule.

• You've personally witnessed and signed off Level 1 to Level 5 testing on mechanical plant: chillers, cooling towers, dry coolers, pumps, CRAH and CRAC units, AHUs and MAUs, computer room ventilation, heat exchangers, expansion tanks and pressurization units, water treatment, piping distribution, control valves, VFDs, leak detection, fuel oil transfer, and the BMS and HVAC control sequences that tie them together.

• You've done the same on the electrical side: generators and paralleling switchgear, HV, MV, and LV transformers and switchgear, main switchboards, UPS and battery systems, ATS and STS, PDUs, busways, RPPs, grounding, lighting controls, PLC-based automatic and semi-automatic switching controls, and the EPMS.

• You test to NETA specifications and run commissioning to ASHRAE or BCxA guidelines, and you catch it when a commissioning agent's script or a vendor's report does not meet them.

• You've diagnosed startup failures under schedule pressure, traced them to design, installation, controls, or equipment, and driven the fix through the party that owned it rather than working around it.

• You keep the issues log, test records, and turnover package current enough that a facilities team could operate the plant from them on day one, and you brief GCs, designers, and owners in writing that leads to a decision.

• Bonus: BSc or MSc in mechanical or electrical engineering. BCxA or ASHRAE commissioning certification (CxA, CBCP, or similar). Commissioning of first-of-a-kind modular data centers. Level 4 and Level 5 test automation. Water treatment and fuel oil system commissioning at campus scale.
