The Opportunity:

KBR is seeking an experienced Commercial Specialist to support complex procurement, commercial, and contract management activities across the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) division.

In this role, you will provide commercial, procurement, contract management, and financial support across complex Defence acquisition activities. Working closely with project teams, Commonwealth stakeholders, and industry partners, you will contribute to procurement strategies, tender activities, contract management, commercial governance, and risk management that support the delivery of critical Defence capability outcomes.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and can be based in Canberra or Melbourne.

The successful candidate must hold an NV1 security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with complex procurement activities and the development of procurement and tender documentation
• Support the development of commercial strategies, including identification of recommended procurement methods
• Undertake contract management activities for ASDEFCON acquisition and sustainment contracts
• Process contract changes, review contract deliverables, and assist with contractor performance management
• Assist the Commonwealth with commercial negotiations involving prime contractors
• Develop procurement strategies, contract management plans, delegate approvals, tender evaluation plans, evaluation reports, and liability risk assessments
• Provide accurate and timely commercial and finance advice and guidance to delegates and stakeholders
• Assure compliance with relevant departmental procurement policies
• Identify and manage commercial and finance risks
• Prepare internal briefs, approval submissions, and reports
• Coordinate project representation at key contract meetings
• Participate in procurement and contract workshops and forums as required

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Essential

• Demonstrated experience in Defence commercial and procurement activities
• Ability to understand contracts, deeds, indemnities, obligations, and variation clauses
• Experience coordinating governance activities, including agendas, minutes, registers, documentation control, and quality assurance of meeting packs
• Effective analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Australian Citizenship
• Current Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Defence Security Clearance or higher

Desirable

• Demonstrated project management experience
• Knowledge of Defence Writing Standards
• Knowledge of internal Defence processes
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and meet demanding milestones
