POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) II for multiple projects in clinical and health services research. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigators, the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will perform research activities using approved techniques. The CRC will manage tasks related to study visits: recruitment, data management, and regulatory management. Will also assist with data analysis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruits subjects to participate in the study by using approved methodologies; evaluates and tracks the eligibility of potential study participants; conducts the enrollment of study participants, including explaining research procedures, and obtaining informed consent; schedules study visits; conducts reminder phone calls, messages, or mailings.
• Administers study visits, qualitative interviews, quantitative assessments and surveys with participants and saves data according to study protocols, coordinates participant remuneration; organizes transcription of study visits and reviews and revises study visit transcripts for quality assurance. Reviews participant data for quality and completeness. Maintains clear, concise, accurate and legible records of study activities.
• Participates in qualitative coding, qualitative analyses, cleaning quantitative data, quantitative analyses, and generating tables and figures for manuscripts.
• Reviews and abstracts patient demographic and clinical data from electronic health records.
• Maintains on-going communications with research managers and PIs, BMC/BUMC IT, and outside programs/vendors.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of study visit materials and data collection systems, preparation for IRB and regulatory submissions and maintenance of regulatory files.
• Coordinates weekly study team meetings including scheduling, note taking, following up on action items; participates in study team quality improvement and education activities.
• Conducts background literature reviews of topics related to study.
• Supervises and trains student research assistants in study activities.
• Performs office-related duties such as answering phone calls, mail, faxes, scanning.

EDUCATION:

CRC II: Experienced Level Position

• Master’s Degree OR
• Bachelor’s Degree plus 2-5 years of experience
• Special Intermittent Project Responsibilities (2-5 per year)

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in a clinical research setting strongly preferred.
• Qualitative interviewing and coding experiences strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):

• Excellent organization and communications skills required.
• REDCap knowledge strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and externals contacts.
• Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial, and ethnic populations.
• Must be detail oriented, follow-through on tasks, and check in with PI regarding any barriers.
• Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload. Must practice discretion and adhere to confidentiality guidelines at all times.
• Must have computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
