Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned K-12 Career Exposure Coordinator to join our Wealth Builds team.

The K-12 Career Exposure Coordinator will bring a passion for Harlem Children's Zone's mission: breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

Wealth Builds is an innovative effort to eliminate the wealth gap through nine evidence-based pillars beginning in Harlem and ultimately expanding to up to 10 cities nationwide. Our theory of action is that cradle-to-career services plus capital lead to social and economic mobility. Through Wealth Builds, we are providing financial education and capital infusions to increase social, financial, and human capital, ultimately generating wealth for our youth.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive K-12 Career Exposure Coordinator to lead the early stages of our career readiness pipeline. This role will sit on the Wealth Builds team, a high-priority strategic initiative at HCZ focused on creating pathways to social and economic mobility. This role is essential to sparking early professional curiosity and building career awareness.

The K-12 Career Exposure Coordinator focuses on designing and implementing a dynamic calendar of experiential career exposures, ranging from workshops and entrepreneurship programs to large-scale events like Career Days for K-12 students. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional project manager and relationship-builder who can seamlessly collaborate with internal counselor teams, school staff, and external programming vendors to open new doors for our youth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of experience in project management, event planning, or coordinating student programs
  • 1+ years of experience building partnerships/outreach with external vendors, organizations, or employers
  • 1+ years of experience supporting student internship programs, placement processes, or career workshops

 Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Counseling, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Action-oriented planner with strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and a proven ability to manage project trackers and meet tight timelines
  • A collaborative self-starter who takes initiative, works well under pressure, and thrives in a fast-paced team environment
  • Creative and resourceful problem-solver who can design engaging career experiences and identify unique student opportunities
  • Excellent communicator who can confidently collaborate and build strong structures with internal counselors, school coordinators, and external vendors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and comfortable learning new database or project management tools
  • A deep commitment to the mission and programs of the Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ)

What you'll do

  • Support the smooth and efficient execution of daily K-12 program operations under the management of the Director and Assistant Director
  • Design, implement, and maintain a calendar of K-12 career exposures that complements the existing career readiness curriculum
  • Lead the event planning and execution of Career Days, career workshops, and other exposure events for K-12 students
  • Manage project trackers and monitor timelines, providing summary updates for HCZ leadership and staff
  • Support the high school internship process, including sourcing placements, conducting readiness workshops, and matching students to sites
  • Research, contact, and manage communication with external vendors and program providers (such as entrepreneurship courses) to secure student exposure opportunities
  • Create and maintain strong collaboration structures with counselors and coordinators across multiple HCZ teams to successfully implement programming
  • Track key outcome metrics for career programming, utilizing data to inform continuous process improvement
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Schedule

  • Maintain a full-time schedule (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), including occasional evenings
  • Work primarily on-site in our Harlem office, with flexibility based on program and team needs
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support scholars and program needs
