The Cancer Services Manager provides operational, clinical, and administrative leadership for cancer services across assigned locations and the continuum of care. This role ensures the delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care while overseeing staff performance, financial stewardship, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance. The Cancer Services Manager serves as a key liaison among clinical staff, physicians, ancillary departments, and administration to advance the strategic goals of the cancer service line.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Management

· Provide direct leadership and oversight to nursing and support staff within the cancer service line, including workforce scheduling, staffing plans, daily operations, and accountability for established performance and patient-care standards.

· Recruit, select, onboard, train, coach, and evaluate staff; complete performance reviews; recognize performance; and administer corrective action and progressive discipline in accordance with organizational policies.

· Foster a culture of accountability, professional growth, teamwork, and patient-centered care among staff.

· Lead change management initiatives related to workflow redesign, new technology, or service line expansion.

· Round regularly on patients, families, and staff to identify and resolve operational or care-delivery issues in real time.

· Serve as a resource and escalation point for complex clinical, staffing, or patient/family concerns.

· Collaborate with physicians, nurse navigators, pharmacy, radiation oncology, and other multidisciplinary partners to coordinate seamless care across cancer services.

· Participate in service line strategic planning, program development, and growth initiatives.

· Champion employee engagement efforts and support retention strategies within the department.

Administrative

· Develop, monitor, and manage the department's operating and capital budgets; identify and act on variances.

· Ensure compliance with organizational policies; applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations; and relevant accreditation and safety standards, including those established by The Joint Commission, the Commission on Cancer, and OSHA.

· Maintain unit-level compliance with oncology-specific regulatory and accreditation requirements, including documentation and reporting standards.

· Prepare and present operational, quality, and financial reports to senior leadership.

· Oversee staffing productivity, labor cost management, and resource allocation in alignment with volume and acuity.

· Lead or participate in oncology performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives by monitoring relevant clinical and operational metrics, identifying trends, implementing corrective actions, and evaluating results.

· Manage supply chain needs, equipment requests, and vendor relationships relevant to the unit.

· Support survey readiness and participate in internal and external audits.

· Maintain accurate and current departmental records, policies, procedures, and manuals in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications:

· Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

· Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical oncology nursing experience required.

· Minimum of two years of nursing leadership experience preferred, such as experience as a charge nurse, supervisor, or manager.

· Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification required at hire or obtained within 12 months of hire.

· Current BLS certification required. ACLS certification and chemotherapy/biotherapy provider certification are preferred.

· Demonstrated experience with budget management, staffing models, and regulatory compliance preferred.

Knowledge, Competencies, & Skills:

· Strong clinical knowledge of oncology nursing practice, chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, symptom management, and safe handling of hazardous drugs.

· Working knowledge of Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements relevant to cancer services.

· Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop diverse staff.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.

· Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

· Financial acumen, including budget development, labor management, and productivity analysis.

· Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office applications.

· Knowledge of quality and safety principles, including performance improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA).

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environment.

· Commitment to patient- and family-centered care, cultural competence, and evidence-based practice.

Direct Reports:

· Nurse navigators, radiation therapists, pharmacy technicians, and other cancer center staff as assigned.

Travel:

· Ability and willingness to travel among cancer service locations within the Denver metropolitan area and surrounding region, as business needs require.

Work Schedule: Full-time, exempt position. Schedule may vary based on operational needs and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or after-hours support.

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and move throughout clinical and office environments for extended periods; communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and providers; use computers and other standard office and clinical equipment; and occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items consistent with departmental needs. Pay Range: $90,000 - $130,000 annual salary
