Job Title
Senior Vice President, Identity Platform – Team Lead & Architect
Job Description
The SVP, Identity Platform – Team Lead & Architect is accountable for the strategy, architecture and delivery of the firm’s enterprise identity and access management (IAM) platforms. This leader owns identity as a core, firm wide capability—enabling secure access for employees, customers, applications, APIs and emerging AI systems—while balancing security, developer experience, regulatory requirements, and business velocity.
This role combines leadership, deep technical architecture and hands-on platform stewardship. The SVP will lead a high performing identity engineering team, set long term architectural direction and partner closely with Cybersecurity, Cloud & Platform Engineering, Application Engineering, Data and Legal/Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Platform Ownership
Define and own the enterprise identity vision, roadmap and reference architecture across workforce, application, customer and machine identities.
Establish identity as a productized platform, with clear service offerings, SLAs, APIs, and self‑service capabilities.
Drive modernization toward cloud‑native, zero‑trust, API‑first and policy‑driven identity architectures.
Ensure identity strategy supports AI platforms, automation and machine‑to‑machine access at scale.
Architecture & Technical Leadership
Serve as the lead architect for identity, authentication, authorization and access policy across the firm.
Design and implement:
Authentication
Authorization (RBAC, ABAC, policy engines)
Token services, federation and identity brokering
Secrets, credentials and machine identities
Define organizational standards for using OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, SCIM, and emerging identity patterns.
Ensure architectures meet availability, resiliency, performance, integration and auditability requirements at enterprise scale.
Engineering & Delivery Leadership
Lead and grow a world‑class identity engineering organization (product managers, engineers, operators).
Oversee delivery of critical identity services used by hundreds of applications and platforms.
Partner with platform and application teams to embed identity correctly, not bolt it on.
Security, Risk & Compliance
Partner with Cybersecurity to ensure identity controls align with zero‑trust, least privilege, and defense‑in‑depth principles.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, privacy, and audit requirements.
Lead incident response and post‑incident improvements for identity‑related events.
Continuously evaluate vendor and open‑source solutions for risk, scalability, and strategic fit.
Executive Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the firm’s senior identity authority with executives, auditors, and regulators.
Translate complex technical concepts into clear business and risk narratives.
Influence roadmaps across technology and business functions to ensure identity is foundational, not reactive.
Required Qualifications
Experience
15+ years in identity, security, or platform engineering, with significant experience operating at enterprise scale.
Proven experience leading large, business-critical platforms used across a broad range of application portfolios.
Prior experience at Director / VP / SVP level or equivalent senior leadership role.
Technical Depth
Deep, hands‑on expertise in:
Enterprise IAM and identity platforms
OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, SCIM
Authorization models (RBAC, ABAC, policy engines)
Cloud identity patterns (AWS, Azure, hybrid)
Strong understanding of distributed systems, high‑availability platforms, and secure API design.
Experience integrating identity into developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and AI systems.
Leadership & Communication
Demonstrated experience leading senior engineers and architects while remaining technically credible.
Exceptional communication skills and effectiveness in influencing C-suite executives and senior business leaders.
Strong product mindset—balancing security, usability, and speed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience modernizing or replacing legacy identity platforms.
Background in financial services, regulated environments, or large global enterprises.
Familiarity with policy‑as‑code, infrastructure‑as‑code, and platform product management models.
Experience supporting external partners, portfolio companies, or multi‑tenant ecosystems.
What Success Looks Like
Identity is viewed as a strategic enabler, not a bottleneck.
Applications and platforms adopt identity consistently and correctly by default.
Security posture improves while developer and user friction decreases.
The identity platform scales confidently to support new businesses, AI workloads, and regulatory demands.
