Job Summary

The Payment Posting Specialist is responsible for posting payments from patients and third-party payers, handling a range of finance-related tasks.  Familiarity with lockbox files and strong data entry skills are important to the everyday roles of a Payment Posting Specialist. Likewise, they are expected to have effective communication skills and pay close attention to detail, as they are responsible for evaluating and verifying the information on Explanation of Benefit statements.

Job Responsibilities

• Posting payments from patients and third parties.

• Adjusting patients’ accounts.

• Processing incoming payments.

• Verifying write-offs.

• Faxing medical records to third parties as requested.

• Scanning documents.

• Confirming refunds to patients and third parties.

• Identifying payer issues.

• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience, Qualifications and Skills

• Experience of working in a large physician clinic.

• Strong commuter skills: proficient in working with Payer Vendor websites.

• Work with multiple computer screens at once in fast-paced environment.

• Self-Starter and capable of working independently at home.

• Must be patient, empathetic, reliable and flexible.

• Excellent documentation/reporting skills.

• Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions to create a positive experience.

• Adheres to CRMS policies.

• Understanding of all HIPPA regulations and the need to strictly adhere to them.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Payment Posting Specialist within a Hospital or Medical office setting.

Physical Requirements:

• Remote office work with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Viewing monitors for a long period of time which may cause eye strain
