BDO’s International Institutions and Donor Assurance (IIDA) team is dedicated to providing financial and related professional services to international institutions and donor-funded programmes. Within IIDA, the Global Business Development Group (GBDG) supports the pursuit of new work by identifying opportunities, coordinating and creating bids, supporting business development activity and maintaining the tools and resources needed to win work effectively.

Purpose of the Role

The Bid Writer plays a key role in the preparation of high-quality, compliant and competitive bids across IIDA. This role leads on the development of written proposal content for complex opportunities, supports broader business development activity and helps strengthen the quality and consistency of reusable bid materials.

The role works closely with the Business Development Assistant, who supports the practical administration, coordination and submission of bids. Together, the two roles ensure that bid responses are well written, well organised, compliant and submitted on time.

You will lead the development of complex IIDA bids from initial review through to submission, analysing tender requirements and creating high-quality, persuasive responses that clearly address client needs. Working closely with technical experts, client teams and stakeholders, you will shape content, identify key differentiators and ensure proposals are compelling, consistent and commercially strong. You will also support the coordination and quality assurance of bid submissions, ensuring compliance with client requirements, internal governance and submission deadlines.

In addition, you will provide wider business development support across IIDA, helping to develop tailored marketing materials, framework submissions and reusable bid content. You will maintain and enhance the bid library and automated content tools, ensuring information remains accurate and current. As a key member of the team, you will promote best practice in bid writing, support the development of junior colleagues and contribute innovative ideas to strengthen proposal quality and win rates.

You’ll be someone with:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, or commensurate relevant experience in marketing administration, business development, bid writing or a related area.
• Proven track record in writing and submitting successful bids.
• Ability to understand, organise and communicate complex requirements clearly and effectively.
• Strong strategic marketing and business development skills, with sound commercial awareness.
• Ability to think laterally and identify linkages, themes and win messages across bid requirements.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
• Experience of working to deadlines and managing multiple inputs across complex opportunities.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.

Desirable

• Fluency in French.
• Experience in international development, donor-funded programmes or international institutions.
• Experience supporting framework contract bidding activity.
• Experience with bid libraries, content repositories or automated bid generator tools.
• Experience of using approved AI-enabled tools to support bid development and content management.
