Sobre esta vaga de Backup Administrator na Performance Technologies
We are seeking an experienced Backup Administrator (Medior to Senior) to join our Data Protection team. In this role you will design, configure, maintain and support enterprise backup and recovery solutions across our customers' environments, ensuring the integrity, availability and recoverability of critical data.
As a medior-to-senior member of the team, you will take ownership of backup infrastructure, drive improvements to policies and processes, resolve complex issues independently, and act as a technical point of reference for junior colleagues and customers alike. The ideal candidate combines deep backup expertise with a solid understanding of the wider IT infrastructure stack — virtualization, databases, storage and cloud.
Main Responsibilities
- Leading the setup, configuration and lifecycle management of enterprise backup software and hardware solutions, ensuring compatibility and integration with existing systems.
- Designing and refining backup policies and procedures — defining backup schedules, retention periods, RPO/RTO targets and disaster recovery plans in line with customer requirements.
- Monitoring the health, performance and capacity of backup environments, and performing proactive maintenance such as software updates, patching, upgrades and hardware checks.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex backup failures, performing root-cause analysis and driving corrective and preventive actions.
- Planning and executing regular backup, restore and disaster-recovery testing and validation exercises to guarantee data integrity and recoverability.
- Producing and maintaining clear, up-to-date documentation — configuration details, runbooks, procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Advising and supporting customers on backup and recovery best practices, handling data restoration requests, and acting as an escalation point for complex issues.
- Mentoring more junior team members and contributing to knowledge sharing within the data protection team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Backup Administrator or in a closely related data-protection role.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure: servers, networking, storage systems and security fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (e.g. VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) and their backup integration.
- Working knowledge of backing up and restoring databases (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Familiarity with backup of cloud and hybrid environments (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS) is a strong advantage.
- Solid experience administering both Linux and Windows servers.
- Proficiency with enterprise backup solutions. Experience with Veritas NetBackup is preferred, but experience with other platforms (e.g. Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, IBM Spectrum Protect, Dell/EMC Networker) is equally welcome.
- Good understanding of technical support practices — ticket documentation, SLAs, KPIs/statistics and escalation processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex problems and resolutions clearly to customers.
- Strong customer-service orientation, time-management skills and strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures as backup solutions evolve.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Veritas NetBackup, VMware VCP, cloud provider certifications).
- Experience with backup automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Exposure to deduplication appliances and tape library management.
- Experience working in a managed-services or multi-customer environment.
We will offer you a friendly and dynamic working environment, in which you can develop your skills and competencies and a workplace with a strong focus on values and work-life balance.
