General Summary:

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop effective and compelling brand positioning and messaging for Unum in the United States and its key solutions and products
• Lead creation of critical market-facing brand assets and content, inclusive of high-level value stories, key brand storytelling assets and thought leadership territories/anchor pieces
• May directly manage a team of product marketing managers and marketing strategists with responsibility for segment and product specific marketing approaches and assets
• Indirectly manage a cross-functional team of content creators and producers to develop materials described above
• Provide embedded marketing strategy support for market-facing business segments and strategic capability leaders
• Provide extensive consultative support for the CXO organization and all enterprise marketing and communications functions on audience requirements, market brand, business parameters and product positioning
   

Job Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 10 or more years’ experience in related fields
• Leadership skills required, particularly ability to influence and partner with senior executives
• Strong strategic marketing capabilities and customer-centric mentality required
• Deep experience in brand management and product/solution marketing required
• Ability to direct design, oversee conduct and analyze results of market research required
• Ability to lead teams in the creation of high-quality, persuasive thought leadership content and sales collateral required
• Communication and interpersonal skills required, with the ability to structure and deliver presentations clearly, crisply, and compellingly
• Excellent listening, partnering, influencing and communications skills required
• High level of initiative and drive for results required

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
