About the Role
This role plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and shaping the company's policy development within the insurance industry. This role will closely monitor changes in regulatory frameworks and analyze their impact on the business. This role requires a thorough understanding of insurance regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Regulatory Advice (30%)
- Provide regulatory advice on group supervision, corporate governance and statutory reporting requirements under GWS;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address regulatory-related queries;
- Provide input on the AIA Strategic Plan on the regulatory development.
New Regulatory Requirements (30%)
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments, guidelines, and directives impacting the insurance industry;
- Stay updated on changes in insurance laws, regulations, and compliance requirements;
- Analyse and report on trends in regulatory developments and focus areas, taking a forwards-looking perspective.
- Research and evaluate existing and emerging regulatory policies and industry best practices;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to track and participate in regulatory consultations;
- Representing AIA Co in HK industry consultations;
- Provide guidance and recommendations on new regulatory requirement implementation and enforcement; and
- Assist on disclosures to IAIS (e.g. GIMAR – IIM and sector-wide monitoring).
- Prepare reports on regulatory requirements and consultations
Business Unit Regulatory Matters (20%)
- Collaborate with Business Unit and Group Office representatives to collect, analyse, report and discuss key regulatory concerns and engagements.
- Work with BUs and SMEs to identify common and critical regulatory issues and develop / implement best practice to proactively address regulatory concerns.
- Plan the forward agenda and manage the regular Regulatory Council meetings
Miscellaneous (20%)
- Support the Director of Regulatory Affairs with the coordination of activities and deliverables for the Group’s regulators, including regulatory queries, inspections and supervisory reports.
- Support the Director of Regulatory Affairs with the coordination and preparation of meetings between AIA and regulatory personnel.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor to meet operational and/or other requirements.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, Actuarial or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in regulatory compliance, policy development, or a related role within the insurance industry.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations and understanding of industry trends.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies, such as insurance commissions, departments of insurance, or regulatory authorities.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
