The Opportunity  

 

The Associate Director, PACOM Training & Advising offers an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership across Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s PACOM region while directly contributing to student success and staff development. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who enjoys developing people, strengthening operations, and creating consistent, high-quality student support experiences across a geographically diverse region.

The Associate Director will have the opportunity to shape and enhance training and onboarding programs, including innovative Canvas-based learning experiences, while coaching and mentoring staff to strengthen their advising and operational capabilities. The position will also play a key role in identifying opportunities for process improvement, using data and feedback to evaluate training effectiveness, and implementing solutions that improve team performance and operational efficiency.

This role provides significant cross-functional exposure and the opportunity to build strong partnerships with advising, financial aid, academic departments, military education partners, and other University stakeholders. As a subject matter expert in academic policies, military tuition assistance, and regional advising practices, the Associate Director will help ensure PACOM operations remain aligned with University standards and evolving student needs.

The Associate Director will also contribute to major regional initiatives, including PACOM graduation activities, compliance efforts, and campus operational improvements. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead training and professional development for PACOM staff, including onboarding, coaching, mentoring, and needs-based training programs.

  • Develop and maintain training resources, including Canvas courses, presentations, and procedural documentation aligned with University policies and systems.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness using performance data, staff feedback, and other metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Build strong stakeholder partnerships with advising, financial aid, academic departments, military education offices, and other internal and external partners.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on academic policies, procedures, Curriculum Standards, and Air Force and Army tuition assistance processes.

  • Address complex inquiries and escalations, providing timely, solutions-focused guidance to staff and stakeholders.

  • Improve regional operations by identifying process efficiencies, streamlining workflows, and strengthening coordination across PACOM campuses.

  • Collaborate on major regional initiatives, including the planning and execution of the PACOM graduation ceremony.

  • Support compliance and accreditation efforts, ensuring campus operations align with University policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable standards.

  • Promote a student-centered culture through staff development, collaboration, mentorship, and continuous operational improvement

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in leadership, Education, Counseling, or a related field.

Required Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in higher education, student services, advising, training, operations, or a related field.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Familiarity with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University operations, policies, and procedures.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of information systems and the ability to learn and apply new technologies.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/Email, and Internet-based tools.

  • Ability to design, develop, and deliver effective training programs for diverse audiences.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify operational needs, recommend improvements, and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness
