Position Summary:

The Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE) at Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Online Student Experience & Pathways in Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Director for Online Student Experience & Pathways develops and cultivates new enrollment pathways for online programs, with particular emphasis on expanding Florida Atlantic's reach to out-of-state, traditional-age undergraduate students, including first-time-in-college and transfer populations.

Central to the role is developing an intentional online student experience that extends beyond virtual instruction. Under the concept of "Learning Online in Paradise," the Assistant Director will help create opportunities for online students to build meaningful connections with Florida Atlantic, including its campuses, traditions, student organizations, events, services, and university community. Whether students engage with Florida Atlantic on campus or remain in their home communities, the Assistant Director will develop intentional opportunities that foster a sense of belonging, university identity, peer connections, and participation in the broader Florida Atlantic experience.

Enrollment Pipeline & Market Development

• Identify geographic markets, institutions, student populations, and academic interests that present opportunities for sustainable online enrollment growth.
• Develop and implement strategies to establish new enrollment pipelines for Florida Atlantic's online undergraduate programs, with particular emphasis on out-of-state FTIC and transfer students.
• Develop scalable recruitment models and partnership strategies that move prospective students from awareness and interest through application and enrollment.
• Collaborate with university admissions and marketing partners to develop targeted communication and recruitment strategies for identified markets.

Online Student Experience "Learning Online in Paradise"

• Lead the development of "Learning Online in Paradise" as an intentional experience, creating opportunities for online students to experience the benefits of Florida Atlantic's location, campuses, traditions, resources, and university community while maintaining the flexibility of online learning.
• Design engagement opportunities that connect online students with the physical campus through orientation experiences, campus visits, signature events, athletics, student organizations, career programming, commencement activities, and other university experiences.
• Partner with Student Affairs, academic colleges, Career Services, campus recreation, athletics, student organizations, and other university stakeholders to expand participation opportunities for online students.

Out-of-State Student Engagement & Belonging

• Develop engagement strategies that foster connection, belonging, and university identity among out-of-state online students who remain in their home state throughout their academic program.
• Create virtual and regional engagement opportunities that connect online students with one another, Florida Atlantic faculty and staff, alumni, and the broader university community (i.e., regional student meet-ups and community-building events, athletic events, and connect with alumni in their areas).
• Pathway & Student Journey Design
• Map the prospective and enrolled student journey for targeted online populations and identify opportunities to strengthen conversion, onboarding, engagement, and persistence.
• Develop and document workflows that coordinate student movement across recruitment, application, admission, onboarding, enrollment, and student success processes.
• Collaborate with university partners to clarify roles, responsibilities, handoffs, communication timelines, and escalation processes.
• Create playbooks, process maps, communication plans, and other operational resources supporting pathway implementation.

Data, Systems & Enrollment Analytics

• Monitor pipeline performance and adjust strategies based on application, conversion, enrollment, and persistence outcomes.
• Utilize student information systems, CRM platforms, enrollment dashboards, and other university technologies to monitor student pipelines and engagement.
• Produce regular reports and presentations summarizing trends, engagement activity, outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.
• Establish performance metrics for new pathway initiatives and evaluate return on recruitment and engagement efforts.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.

Master's degree in appropriate area and three years of relevant experience preferred.

Salary:

$75,000 - $80,000 annually.
