Marsh Risk / Marsh People & Investments, India, Middle East & Africa (IMEA) is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Amman office:

Assistant Counsel, Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs

• Join a regional legal team at the heart of Marsh’s IMEA business, supporting fast-moving and high-profile matters across multiple markets.

• Work on a broad portfolio of contentious issues, including litigation, pre-litigation disputes, E&O matters, and employment and commercial cases.

• Partner closely with senior counsel in Dubai while building the confidence to manage matters independently.

• Play a key role in strengthening risk management through investigations, claims handling, trend analysis, and prevention initiatives.

• Help shape training, awareness, and process improvements that make a real impact across the business.

We will rely on you to:

• Advise stakeholders on contentious matters, including litigation, pre-litigation disputes, E&Os, commercial issues, and employment matters.

• Manage external counsel on complex legal issues, including instructions, progress tracking, and review of outputs.

• Support the end-to-end handling of E&O claims, including triage, investigation, resolution, closure, and trend analysis.

• Assist with internal investigations, document preservation, document review, matter intake, reporting, and system maintenance.

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and related documents.

• Contribute to training, awareness, policy, and process development across the LCPA function.

What you need to have:

• Recognised legal qualifications and admission to practice in Jordan, another Middle East jurisdiction, and/or a common law jurisdiction.

• 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house role within the Middle East.

• Strong experience handling contentious matters and litigation, particularly commercial and employment disputes.

• Excellent drafting, organisational, and analytical skills.

• The ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively with minimal supervision.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

What makes you stand out:

• Experience in professional liability insurance or claims-related work.

• Regulatory advisory experience, ideally in insurance or financial services.

• Arabic language skills.
