Job Description Summary

The role involves the manufacturing of rotating jet engine components, working with unique aerospace alloys on some of the latest CNC machines and tooling in a clean, air-conditioned facility. Work will involve creating hardware involving the use of measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and special purpose gauges among others. Daily activities include the manufacturing production of GE Aerospace’s jet engine parts, operating large machinery, and following internal processes to perform machining tasks. Work will be performed both individually and within a team setting with the goal of ensuring machined parts and components are produced in accordance with GE Aerospace’s safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

Technical Skill Proficiency: Intermediate / Competent*

• Can comfortably operate a few machines independently due to displayed proficiency in programing, tooling, and setups.
• Understands and can work with basic-to-moderately geometric dimensioning, tolerancing, and / or programming criteria for machined parts production.
• Able to perform basic and moderately advanced part and tooling setup / extraction / prove-out from production machines, including location checks.
• Can pass calculation and machine input, conduct faceplate changes, and cut jaws.
• Ability to manage non quick-change changeovers.

 

Task & Equipment Complexity: Intermediate / Competent*

• Manages and executes moderately complex tasks and equipment, such as performing routine to moderately advanced setups and assisting with more difficult setups.
• Able to work on advanced automated and non-automated machines, including selecting and using the appropriate tools, gauges, and setups for Level 2, 1-man-3 to 1-man-4 machines, and those work centers with a 5- to 10-part number mix.
• Helps produce machined jet engine parts that are made both regularly and less often.

 

Problem-solving / Troubleshooting: Intermediate / Competent

• Able to diagnose and resolve common problems and occasionally some complex issues independently.
• Can identify and fix both basic and more advanced issues autonomously, largely by performing simple and some complex rework.
• Responsible for inspecting tool holders and tooling blades for wear and tear replacement.

Quality & Precision Standards: Intermediate / Competent

• Ensures adherence to quality and precision standards through the inspection of parts and identification of quality issues and / or defects.
• Consistently demonstrates the ability to utilize proper tools, gages, and material handling techniques to make conforming hardware.
• Follows defect procedures and instructions to save parts from being scrapped, where and when applicable.

Leadership: Intermediate / Competent

• Able to offer machining, tooling, process, and quality-related advice and / or informal training to less experienced peers and operators.Develops and builds upon individual capabilities via mentors, trainers, and on-the-job experiences while beginning to develop the skills needed for more formal supervisory responsibilities.undefined

Autonomy: Developing / Beginner

• While under moderate, direct supervision, can make routine decisions within defined parameters.Able to operate autonomously when conducting certain machining operations tasks.Follows step-by-step instructions and processes, whether documented or from their trainer or supervisor. 

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Commitment to workplace safety (of both self and others).
• Commitment to quality and integrity of work performed.
• Flexibility to adjust schedules for training, as required
• Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; any offer is contingent upon successful completion of the pre‑employment process (including background check and drug screening)

This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
