The Area Wellness Manager (Southern Europe) drives the development of Wellness across the guest experience within the Southern European Division.  Working closely with the On Property General Managers and their teams to execute locally relevant wellness concepts that align with the Belmond Wellness Philosophy and Framework, integrating spa, fitness, nutrition, rituals and experiences (both on and off property) to benefit our guests’ wellbeing. 

The role also oversees the performance of Spa and Fitness operations, supporting our Spa Leaders on property to drive guest satisfaction, and to maximise the commercial results of the Spa and Wellness operations.

Main duties and responsibilities

Operational Guidance: 

• Supports translation of Belmond’s Wellness Vision into Operational reality across the individual hotels of the Division 

• Through close collaboration with the Property Business Leaders actively develops and supports implementation of Wellness Concepts and Initiatives, with a focus on wellness practices of each location.  

• Drives utilization of Belmond’s processes, frameworks, tools and best practices pertaining to the Wellness Operations across Belmond, fostering a culture of excellence.  

• Supports our Spa Leaders to ensure all spa, fitness and wellness services and programs align with Belmond, LQA and Forbes standards  

Partnership Management:  

• Ensures best in class day-to-day partnership results between individual properties and Spa partners (including our sister LVMH maisons Dior & Guerlain).   

• Collaborates with our Brand & Operational Teams on the identification, selection and contracting of strategic Wellness partnerships to compliment individual property Wellness Concepts.  

Financial Management: 

• Provides coaching and expertise on the commercial strategy for the Spa & Wellness Facilities, focusing our Spa Leaders on the efficient running, cost control and profitability of the spa and wellness facilities.  

• Monitors the Spa & Wellness performance on an ongoing basis, identifying opportunities and solutions to enhance performance    

Development & Renovations: 

• Works closely with our Spa Leaders during seasonal close down and reopening – leading all preopening tasks for the Spa and Wellness Operations in the Division outside of the seasonal employment schedules. 

• Works closely with the Global Head of Wellness & Guest Experience on upcoming Wellness concepts and physical facilities in new and renovated properties.  

Team Collaboration: 

• Foster a culture of continuous shared learning, professional growth, collaboration and empowerment amongst our Spa & Wellness Community on property.   

Other Responsibilities :

• Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.  

• Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager and across departments, as appropriate.  

• Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.  

• Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.  

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience leading a luxury spa or wellness environment  

• Experience working in luxury environments with a deep understanding of operational excellence and luxury standards. 

• Proven track record of implementing and running successful spa and wellness initiatives and environments. 

• Experience working in the pre-opening and opening stage of wellness and spa facility creation. 

• A commercial mindset, with fluency in the financial realities of operating spa and wellness environments, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for enhancing guest experience and driving business growth 

• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data sets, advanced excel skills. 

• Strong Project Management skills and knowledge.   

• A passion and understanding for wellness and wellbeing, and the landscape with a strong personal interest in the area 

• Excellent communication skills with fluent command of English. Fluency in Italian preferred.
