The Area Service Manager – Los Angeles & Rockies is responsible for leading a team of Field Service Engineers and delivering sage, high-quality performance across the assigned territory.  This role translates zone priorities into consistent field execution by coaching and developing associates, managing customer and operational priorities, ensuring effective workforce deployment, and driving continuous improvement through the Danaher Business System (DBS).  This role serves as a clear advocate for the customer and the business, translating zone service strategy into field execution while reinforcing accountability, customer focus, and sustainable operating behaviors.

This position reports to the Zone Service Manager – Western US and is part of the Equipment Services organization, working remotely in the Los Angeles, CA area to cover the Los Angeles & Rockies service area.  

What you will do:

• Own area-level service business performance, including revenue growth contribution, operational effectiveness, customer satisfaction, and consistent execution across the Los Angeles & Rockies service area.
• Lead execution of service growth mechanisms within the area, including service contract capture, unit adds, renewals, and digital or service attachment, ensuring field service engineers are enabled, accountable, and capable of identifying customer needs and directly proposing service offerings in partnership with Service Sales, Product Management, and Commercial teams.
• Provide inspirational leadership to a geographically distributed team of Field Service Engineers with direct accountability for associate development, engagement, performance management, expense management, effective resource deployment, and disciplined execution that protects profitability while enabling growth.
• Deploy and sustain DBS operating rigor, including ownership of Daily Management cadence, Visual Management, Problem Solving Process (PSP), standard work, and Kaizen execution across the area to ensure accountability, follow-through, and sustained performance improvement.
• Ensure operational excellence and service delivery performance, including high-quality execution of new equipment installations and critical service events, driving improvement in key service KPIs such as applied time, utilization, first-time fix, PM completion, response time, quality, and safety.
• Serve as the primary management escalation point for complex and high-pressure customer, operational, or performance issues, exercising sound judgment to resolve issues quickly while protecting customer relationships and the long-term interests of the business.
• Partner cross-functionally with the Zone Service Manager and commercial, product, and operations leaders to align field execution, capacity planning, and customer priorities with zone and business objectives.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional/military experience.
• Significant experience leading customer-facing field service organizations within life sciences, biotechnology, medical devices, or other high-technology environments.
• Previous managerial experience, including responsibility for developing and leading Field Service Engineers or other customer-facing technical associates.
• Demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed and remote service teams across complex territories.
• Demonstrated use of Danaher Business System (DBS) tools, including Daily Management, standard work, problem solving, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proven experience managing or influencing service revenue, growth initiatives, and operational performance metrics at an area or territory level, including contract growth, renewals, and profitability contribution.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• Ability to travel approximately up to 30%, including overnight travel, primarily within the Los Angeles & Rockies service area, and occasionally to the Northeast.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Previous commercial experience within a field service environment, e.g., service contract growth, renewals, or attachment strategies.
• Applying DBS/lean tools or similar continuous improvement methodologies to drive sustained behavior change across large teams.
• Supporting zone-level or cross-area service initiatives.

The salary range for this role is $90,000.00- 115,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
