As an Application Specialist, you will work as part of the Provincial Medical Communications Centre (PMCC) team, with a primary focus on the administration, support, optimization, and ongoing development of applications and technologies that support PMCC operations.

The Application Specialist will be the primary PMCC resource for the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and will serve as the go-to contact for CAD and PMCC technology-related matters. This includes the day-to-day administration and configuration of the CAD system, identifying opportunities to improve functionality, supporting system changes, and working directly with the CAD vendor to troubleshoot issues and develop and implement enhancements that meet the operational needs of PMCC.

The position will work closely with Medavie IT and other technical resources to support PMCC applications, integrations, access, system issues, and technology initiatives. The Application Specialist will also work collaboratively with System Performance on data, CAD reporting, dashboards, system performance information, and other reporting requirements to ensure PMCC has accurate and meaningful information to support operational decision-making.

Responsibilities Include:

• Administer, configure, maintain, and support the PMCC Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and other PMCC applications and technologies.

• Act as the primary PMCC subject matter expert and point of contact for CAD functionality, configuration, workflows, integrations, and system-related issues.

• Work directly with the CAD vendor to identify opportunities for enhancement, troubleshoot issues, test solutions, and implement system changes that support PMCC operational requirements.

• Coordinate and participate in the testing and implementation of application changes, upgrades, enhancements, and new functionality.

• Maintain accurate technical documentation related to application configuration, workflows, system functionality, processes, and user support.

• Contribute to application and technology roadmaps for PMCC systems and identify future technology requirements.

• Support application administration activities including configuration, user access, version control, and system changes.

• Participate in workflow and security reviews and ensure application changes support organizational and PMCC requirements.

• Provide technical and application support to PMCC operational groups and assist with the timely resolution of system-related issues.

• Work collaboratively with other Medavie programs and departments on shared applications, technology, data, and system initiatives.

• Support PMCC projects involving application development, system enhancements, data, reporting, workflow changes, and technology implementation.

Professional Qualifications & Competencies:

• Related EMS, emergency communications, healthcare, or equivalent operational experience considered an asset.
• Experience working with Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, emergency communications systems, or other operational applications considered an asset.
• Experience in application administration, system configuration, business analysis, technical support, or a related field.
• Experience working directly with software vendors and IT teams to troubleshoot issues and implement system enhancements.
• Experience working with data, reporting, dashboards, or system performance information considered an asset.
• Experience with SQL, reporting tools, or data analysis considered an asset.
• Strong knowledge of application configuration, system administration, workflow development, and version control.
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, problem-solve, and make sound decisions.
• Ability to understand operational requirements and translate them into practical application and technology solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with system configuration, data, reporting, and operational workflows.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, service requests, projects, and deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and operational audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively with operational teams, IT, vendors, System Performance, and other programs.
• Ability to work independently while recognizing when issues require collaboration or escalation.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and the effective use of technology to support PMCC operations.

Salary Range 

• $64,000 to $71,000 annually.

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Medavie employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.

While Medavie may use automated tools, including AI, to support application screening, candidates are expected to complete all recruitment interactions independently—without AI assistance—to ensure a fair and equitable process.
