THE POSITION
The Legal Co-Op will join Wellington Management's US Legal team and gain hands-on experience supporting contracting activities, legal technology initiatives, and process improvements. The Co-Op will work collaboratively with members of the Legal team and business partners across the firm while developing practical skills in legal operations, contract management, and technology-enabled solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the preparation, review, and organization of investment management agreements and other related contracts, such as confidentiality agreements and amendments.
- Supporting Legal team members in responding to contract-related requests from internal business and operational teams.
- Collaborating with members of the Legal team and other business partners on contracting and legal operations projects.
- Conducting research and helping the team track issues related to agreements, client onboarding, controls, and procedures.
- Supporting the development, testing, and implementation of technology solutions for contracting processes, including artificial intelligence tools.
- Contributing ideas and project support to improve legal processes, workflow design, and efficiency.
- Helping maintain and organize contracting resources, including templates, checklists, guidance materials, and negotiation playbooks.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess:
- Strong academic credentials and current enrollment in an undergraduate program. Candidates with an interest in legal operations, business, technology, finance, or a related area are encouraged to apply.
- An eagerness to learn about legal contracting and the investment management industry. Prior legal or contracting experience is not required.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail.
- An interest in legal technology, artificial intelligence, and process design or improvement.
- Sound judgment and strong collaboration skills.
- The ability to prioritize assignments, manage time-sensitive work, and approach responsibilities with professionalism and an awareness of risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize information clearly in a dynamic environment. The ability to work independently when appropriate and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Please note: This co-op position entails cross-training to ensure optimal performance across functions. The anticipated start date for accepted candidates is December 2026/January 2027.

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
$19-$35 per hourThis range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.
Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
