Job Details:

Under the direction of the Clinical Services Manager for the Mental Health Unit , the Activity Therapist (AT) is responsible for utilizing a variety of activities (art, music, games, video, drama, movement, sports, crafts, dance, relaxation techniques, etc.) to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of day treatment patients. The AT utilizes group content that is aligned with the program philosophy and governing evidenced based practices. The AT is a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary team. The AT must be certified in Ohio as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Recreational Therapist, or Expressive Therapist to provide such services, which may occur in group sessions or individually. The AT demonstrates and models Dayton Children’s values through effective interaction with patients, families, and treatment team members while providing excellent care.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required

Certifications:
Only one of the mentioned certifications required
MT-BC Music Therapist Board Certified - Certification Board for Music Therapists
Board Certified Art Therapists (ATR-BC) - THE ART THERAPY CREDENTIALS BOARD, INC ATCP
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
Occupational Therapy Assistant - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT® )
Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist - American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA)
