Job Description Summary:  The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Co-Occurring Disorders Specialist (CODS) provides co-occurring substance use and mental health services for individuals and families impacted by a variety of behavioral health concerns related to co-occurring substance use and mental health diagnoses. CODS will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive to client needs and goals. This position offers a warm and welcoming, empathic, hopeful attitude, with a strengths-based focus on recovery.  CODS assesses strengths, needs, and interests as it applies to co-occurring substance use and mental health treatment, including individual and group co-occurring counseling, add co-occurring substance use and mental health treatment goals/objectives/interventions to treatment plans and accurately documents progress via progress notes. CODS provides cross-training and consultation to the treatment team about co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, trauma, and cognitive behavioral interventions for any client interested in co-occurring treatment. 

Qualifications: 
•    Requires one of the following:  A QMHP (master's in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling) in State of Missouri or an individual who meets the applicable training and credentialling required by the Missouri Credentialing Board for any of the following accreditations (QAP):  
-    Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC);
-    Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CRADC);
-    Certified Reciprocal Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CRAADC)
-    Certified Criminal Justice addictions Professional (CCJP)
-    Registered Alcohol Drug Counselor-Provisional (RADC-P)
-    Registered Alcohol Drug Counselor (RADC)
-    Co-Occurring Disorders Professional (CCDP) and
-    Co-Occurring Disorders Professional-Diplomat (CCDP-D) and 
•    The QMHP or QAP shall also have one (1) year of training or supervised experience in substance use disorder treatment; If less than one year, then they shall be actively acquiring twenty-four (24) hours of training in co-occurring disorders content and receive supervision from experienced co-occurring disorders staff as approved by the Dept of Mental Health.
   
Responsibilities:
•    Conducts client assessments, identifies presenting problems, screens for co-occurring disorders, and develops treatment plans in collaboration with clients, their chosen supports, and treatment teams.  Identifies stages of change and appropriate interventions for clients.
•    Ensures that all required progress notes, assessments, medication assisted treatment staging and screening tools, and all other documentation is completed within established timeframes and according to quality standards set by State and Federal regulations, CARF certifications, program expectations, ACT Fidelity, State and Federal regulations, as well as Ozark Center Policies and Procedures. 
•    Provides individual and group counseling sessions and group education services.
•    Assists clients with accessing community resources, recovery groups and services, and medically necessary services, accompanying clients when necessary.
•    Provide cross-training, as requested, to ensure staff understand co-occurring substance use and mental health counseling emerging practices, promising practices, and best practices as it relates to improving client outcomes.
•    Facilitates continuity of care between CPRP and other programs, modalities of consultation and education, emergency services, detoxification and hospitalization, residential housing, Supported Employment, and aftercare through continuing care effective use of consultation, case management, counseling, and follow up.
•    Supports client choice regarding substance use, mental health medication compliance, and treatment adherence.  Helps clients develop self-advocacy skills with substance use and mental health providers regarding managing co-occurring disorders.
•    Demonstrates effective time management and multitasking skills to independently manage team caseload. Arranges work schedule to see clients regularly according to their individual co-occurring behavioral health needs. Manages multiple, simultaneous deadlines to ensure that services are provided according to established expectations. 
•    Adheres to a flexible work schedule between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with consideration given to client needs falling outside these timeframes. Responds to all client urgent or emergent needs according to said schedule, unless using paid leave.  Participates in ACT afterhours crisis on-call rotation to include evenings and weekends.
•    Perform all other duties as assigned. 

Physical Requirements:
·    A mix of standard office environment and community/home visits.  Physical demands typically include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, and stooping, getting in/out of vehicles and climbing stairs. 
·    Typical range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate computer keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.   
·    Requires use of personal vehicle for travel and client transportation.   
·    Requires good driving skills.   
·    Requires use of personal cell phone to communicate with supervisor(s)/office staff/team members during work hours.
·    TB test upon hire.
