Overview
You will be prototyping and evaluating new audio technologies and collecting measurement data on consumer electronic devices in development. The role involves validation through acoustic measurements and user studies, helping to drive product specifications to support feature implementation. As part of our team, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Technical Program Manager, Audio System Engineer, Software, Hardware integration, User Experience).
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive audio and acoustical measurements, including frequency response, distortion, impedance, and related tests across acoustical and electrical domains.
- Develop, categorize, and validate data sets for project support within strict, fixed timelines.
- Define, document, and follow detailed test procedures to ensure repeatability and reproducibility of results.
- Maintain and organize an advanced laboratory environment, proactively identifying maintenance requirements and suggesting improvements.
- Debug software and firmware to enable hardware bring-up and facilitate accurate testing.
- Provide concise weekly status updates to the team and coordinate closely with the Technical Program Manager to remove blockers for laboratory tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with audio hardware testing and validation.
- Proficiency with audio lab instrumentation such as Head And Torso Simulators (HATS), measurement microphones, and experience with at least one of: Head Acoustics ACQUA, Audio Precision, or Listen Inc SoundCheck.
- Strong understanding of audio acoustic principles and measurement fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to create detailed documentation, reports, and presentations.
- High level of attention to detail and ownership over assigned tasks.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity or interest in hearing science and psychoacoustics for advanced test result interpretation.
- Experience with laser displacement measurement tools (e.g., Keyence, Polytec) or Klippel analysis systems.
- Scripting ability in MATLAB or Python for automating data analysis and test processes.
- Hands-on experience with ADB (Android Debug Bridge) for device communication and testing.
- Knowledge of Qualcomm Audio Debug tools (QACT, QXDM) for advanced audio system diagnostics.
